I went out of my way to avoid previews for Independence Day: Resurgence. The original Independence day blew my mind when I was a 12 year old kid. It was the first movie I went to more than one time in theaters, and when I got the VHS tape of it for Christmas, I probably went on to watch it 50 times before I moved on.
Watched it today and there were a few cringe-worthy parts that HISHE can make fun of later, but here's one thing that stuck out big time: the President of the United States is a woman. Not as old nor ugly as Hillary, but obviously supposed to get people in the mindset that Hillary will be president.
So then they show this woman make (I'll be spoiler free here) several wrong decisions that really put the voters in a dangerous situation. They are 100% decisions Hillary would make in such a scenario. When the day is ultimately won by someone other than the female President, I was in a terrific mood. It's been a while since a movie has gotten me so pumped up. I'm sure nostalgia plays into it quite a bit, but if I were to rate this movie I'd give it 5 stars.
Now I go home and check out critical response... and it's aweful. Could it be because it shows how truly dangerous it would be for our lives if Hillary wins in November? Would Hillary go so far as to ruin the financial success of some movie that might convince people not to vote for her? Would her shills go so far as to give it undeserved poor reviews? I'm just speculating of course, but although the movie says humanity has been at peace for 20 years, it does NOT say that there is a one world government.
I agree with you the president gave off some serious Hillary vibes, right down to the way she spoke. But recall that she gets rekt by the aliens, who have their own 100-foot tall Hillary, so she's no victorious hero at the end.
Also remember that the MC is a white male with a white fiancée so there's no cuckery business going on. I enjoued ID: R thoroughly.

In one of the previews they drive to some place I Africa with old relics and a downed ship that was powered on. This movie is cheesy as fuck. I saw it on opening day because I loved the original. It was entertaining but it isn't even close to the quality of the original. They shoehorned in some feel good love story, there's no real extremely intense moments and they drift from one major event to the next without allowing any suspense to build.
The quietly into the night speech in the original is one of the best scenes I have ever seen. Nothing in this movie comes close to it.

Shit movie. Don't bother with it. Let me save any potential viewers some cash. There will be spoilers if you're not convinced and stupid enough to waste money on this.

First off: female POTUS. She even sounds like Hillary.
Shortly after that, we find out that the world has been unified (nations still exist, but they all get along just fine and dandy) and that there has been no human conflict for 20 years because of that.
Later on in the movie, right before the climax, the new president (Hillary says a "badass" one liner and gets killed off when the aliens infiltrate the Pentagon) has a monologue about how there's one race: the human race and all that shit.
At the very end, the cowardly white man (brother of the protagonist) watches his brother and his fiance start making out to celebrate the victory against the aliens. He then tries to get him and his love interest (who is Chinese) to do the same, and she promptly declines it and says she prefers the black man. How typical. The whiny white guy is cucked by the strong black man.
The writer is also Jewish and the director is gay and donated to the Hillary campaign in '08, how surprising.
There were more minor things, such as the funny old Jewish guy comedic relief and the gay couple who saves the day, but I've pretty much covered the bad shit.
If you're still willing to ignore all of that and watch it purely for some badass alien killing, the plot itself was sort of disappointing. It was pretty much a rehash of the first movie, but with more advanced technology and a new cast of main characters. It was extremely predictable and just felt like more of the same. It also lost some points in my opinion because they set it up for another movie in the last two minutes.
My best advice to you is to torrent it or something when it becomes available. It's not worth the movie ticket.
