I live in NC, everyone and their mother has a gun. When i'm in a store and I see someone open-carrying, black or white, I feel safer. I just do.
Unfortunately, places get robbed, bad things can happen. If someone mentally ill or something walks into a small store where you are, it's not going to be you that stops them with some bic pen, it's going to be the gun with a concealed carry permit.

I conceal carry, but I'd open carry without a doubt if I would actually want to engage in the conversations that would happen because of it. I wouldn't want to get into "cool gun, I was going to get that but they were sold out so I got this 1911 instead" conversations with random fucks at the supermarket and I also wouldn't want to get into "OMG he has a gun, officer arrest him" conversations either.
That said, ignoring all talk about whether it's tactically a good decision, I think it's cool to see that people are trying to normalize guns. I'm not talking about carrying an AR-15 into Starbucks, that's just retarded people just looking to scare people, but just walking around with a 9mm in a holster? Not particularly scary to a random person and it gets the point across that yes, guns are all over, and no, people aren't dying because someone has a handgun in a holster. If people knew how many respectable looking people carry guns in their day to day lives maybe it'd break the stigma that only cops and criminals carry guns.

Cross draw worked great back when horses were the primary mode of transportation and cavalry was a thing. It's also provides easier access when sitting down. It is slower to draw a cross draw holster though and between when you draw and when you actually point the gun at the thing you want to shoot you basically end up pointing your gun at half the room, including your left arm most likely, which isn't exactly safe.
