The GOP and conservatives have a soundbite about "punishing success." I still don't buy into it, however I do believe there is such a thing as rewarding mistakes. We shouldn't be catering to people who make shit choices with their lives like having 6 kids out of wedlock, not finishing school, having no professional credentials of any kind, and still expecting a 'living' wage doing a job that is simply not worth that much. I support a strong public sector, but it has to be geared toward investment instead of dependence.

At my most liberal, as a teenager, I believed in expelling nonwhites from the country peacefully and democratically, that Bush and Republicans were evil statist authoritarians, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars were stupid muh blood for oil, and that the blue dog Democrats could take over to make a social conservative, economic populist, nationalist (basically Trumpite) alternative to the gop. My parents were hardcore neocons and I initially agreed with them up until I was about 15-16. I gravitated to liberalism because it seemed to be the trendy, socially acceptable thing to be and neocons were really fucking lame. By 18, I started to realize that liberal explanations of why problems exist made zero fucking sense and their policies rewarded retardation. I started to realize that liberal solutions were impractical and made no difference and that the solution to their policies failing was simply to spend more money. Their philosophy is rooted in the idea that all individuals are capable of the same things, which is entirely untrue no matter how hard that is to swallow.
I got redpilled on race and culture around the same time. What did it for me was seeing mudslime rape rates in Scandinavian countries and I dug deeper and realized that inherent cultural and racial differences are insurmountable on a grand scale.
I'm pretty far-right wing, but I don't really hate anybody based solely on race. There are certainly people of other ethnicities that aren't bad people, but I think that European countries need to stay European.

I went to college and saw what real leftists were like. Worse, I was roommates with several of them. They were literally parsitic leeches, not even hiding the fact that they wanted me to do and pay for everything since I "owed" it to them for being from a "richer" family.
The rest of the campus wasn't so bad at the time, but the breaking point came during my 3rd year (2014-2015). Previously, there were very few militant SJW posters anywhere on campus. Most postings related to professional student associations that were mainly geared towards academics and getting internships and shit. There were a few LGBT/womens' type organizations but they too were mainly directed towards academia and industry or were simply fraternal (non-political) associations.
In Fall 2014, Black Lives Matter suddenly exploded on campus. I did not recall them there before, not to mention there were not even that many black students. They literally blocked the freeway one morning and defaced several student art spaces with their propaganda. At the same time, all the posters on campus seemed to have suddenly shifted to leftist agitation. I should have known something was going to happen since my RA (resident assistant) for that year was literally a hardcore SJW nu-male. All the RA's that year were different than the previous set and were all more "political" than my previous ones who were more concerned with making sure that students weren't damaging the dorms and otherwise let us be.
This continued into my final year. I was in an engineering major, and even then it wasn't safe. Many of my classmates turned sharply left. I was even called out for knowing a "politically problematic" fact in class after I said that with current technology you cannot 3D print out a working gun entirely out of plastic lock, stock, and barrel.
The way the left over my college made me turn hard to the right.
