Anglo-bros, after the recent betrayal of Scotland we should make England's oldest ally an honorary member of the Anglo sphere. With a little meme magic Portugal may gain its independence from the EU. This thread is therefore dedicated to the absolute Nanban Madman that its Portugal who may once again be feared from Goa to Cape Verde. For this reason post your glorious moments in history Porto-bros and how likely is your independence from Europe?

in here the only political parties against the EU are leftists.
"Left block leader Catarina Martins says that sanctions are a EU "declaration of war" and we should have a referendum"

I think like most serious thinkers about world affairs, in any alliance with Portugal the "Ronaldo question" would have to be front and centre in any negotiations. One possible tactic could be the "Beckham Strategy" where he is foisted on wide-eyed Californians or a "Reverse Suarez" where he is packed off to Uruguay. For sure, an ocean needs to be involved.

The Portuguese formed a defensive square. In the short battle that followed, the Castilian cavalry was unable to break the Portuguese formation, suffering heavy losses. The Portuguese suffered none, and the Castilians withdrew.
The battle of Atoleiros represents the first effective use of “square tactics” on the battleground. This tactic, in which groups of infantry armed with both missile and hand-to-hand weapons defended themselves from all directions, was so successful that it was still in use over 500 years later during the Napoleonic Wars against mass French cavalry attacks

The Constable of Portugal noticing that the Castilians had used all of their projectiles, ordered an attack.
Nuno Álvares Pereira himself, seeing the banner of the Grand Master of Santiago, fought his way through the Castilian army until encountering him, and after a brief duel, the Grand Master fell mortally wounded.[5]
With his fall and the overthrow of his standard, the Castilian army demoralized and was soon broken and in disorder, and could not stop the Portuguese attack, being quickly and totally defeated.

Fucking madmen
>0 casualties
>Spain BTFO
It's a shame that few Englishmen really know about the Anglo-Portuguese alliance. Portugal has always had England's back despite our betrayal of her at times.
>>78817723
We need to start spreading the word about it.
We ought to teach Portuguese in our schools rather than French, or at least certainly rather than Spanish.
>>78817959
I'd add to this by the way that Portuguese would be enormously useful for communicating with Brazil now, which is bound to become a great trading partner of ours.
>>78817959
Above french for sure, there are more than 200 million portuguese speakers in the world
>>78817959
I agree, beneficial in regards to both historical tradition and current economic circumstances.
>>78817256
Actually had a fucking duel like some next Shakespearean play and Spain eats shit. Fucking noice.
>>78818138
It ought to be European Portuguese though!

>betrayal of Scotland
They betrayed nobody
You seem to think they were ever loyal to you
>>78819746
They were. Until recently with the rise of leftist Scottish nationalism Scotland was bro-tier and provided some of the best troops to the British Army but now they want to drag us back to Europe or Abandon their post in favor of the EU.
