If you cannot find positive verification for a claim despite every effort while all evidence shows the contrary you don't have any claim to intelligence, reason, or really anything that our entire society is built around. Christianity makes tons of positive claims that cannot be verified. That does not mean it is false, no, but it does make a very good case for it. Of course you can't prove a falsehood, and that means you should claim belief in it.
