In two generations, there are now about 40 million people trying to support nearly double that through taxation. Their money is transferred to the government to support the retired and elderly, in need of expensive care and living arrangements.
But you cannot support that many people with so few workers. Ideally, you want FAR MORE people paying in then are benefitting. Longer lives and lowered birth rates make this impossible, social programs implode, bonds from that country are worth nothing, investors flee, and the country faces a depression.
