/pol/
My state representative is a piece of crap that got arrested. No one is running against him. I am thinking about mounting a campaign as an independent.
Has pol ever ran for office? What can I do to be successful?

Look at you sleuthing.
Anyway, dude is a creep. I have no political experience other than an administrative role in a non profit (501c3 president last 2 years).
Here are some issues I am knowledgeable on:
Makerspaces
Medical Marijuana
Computer Science industry
Agriculture

I would suggest that you never ever mention /pol/ in public for a start.
Other than that, be a good citizen, practice a good handshake that's firm but no domineering, practise oratory and debating, and find a way to make it look as though you stand up for what's right

Your state is a corporate tax haven. It only exists to serve the fiduciary interests of surrounding states and the District of Columbia. Get out now.

well your secret's safe with me.. good luck man, running a campaign is mainly about having good billboards/signs and lots of them, honestly.. there's an asshole in my state (AZ) who's won his seat for the past ~20 years because it has a bunch of babbys wearing sunglasses on it
the point is something eye catching, a good slogan, these things almost matter more than anything else
You should carefully craft your campaign, look at opinion polls in your state and see what's important to voters, focus more on those issues
