A basic income would replace both pensions and welfare system. It would make everyone without exception dependant upon government handouts. Everyone would be tied to the beast system.
Because of the massive financing needed, taxes for everyone would have to explode.
They would finance this by raising the added value tax on consumer goods to astronomic levels. That means suddenly, your 2000$ buy you a month worth of food and that's it. It wont buy you rent or anything else.
