Environmentalism is the real red pill.

Globalist reptilian fucks want to commoditize everything and absolutely nothing is sacred. But we should want to preserve nature.

Worked as a tree planter in Canada. Thanks to all the stupid retarded hippies they ruined the logging industry. Also it's by law that you have to replant the trees that you cut.
>not supporting the industry of a material that's already biodegredable

Also the meme of cutting trees destroys the environment is pretty dumb. Even your stupid hippy natives burned down forests to help bring in new plant life and meadows which bought in more different wild life.

I fucking hate hippies so god damn much

Trees are a renewable resource. That is true. There is nothing wrong with consuming lumber produced in Canada and Russia. What is genuinely bad is land clearance in Brazil, Indonesia and Africa. The difference is that the forests being cleared in tropics are old growth forests that are rich in biological diversity. Biological diversity is a precious resource that will be harnessed in the future as biotech becomes more advanced. The technology of the future will be based on biochemistry. Think of the Evangelions, half-machine, half organism. Evangelion technology may depend on unique proteins produced by yet-to-be discovered species of frogs and mushrooms living in old growth forests.

It's cheaper to plant three trees for everyone cut down. 20 years after cutting one down, you got three the same size to cut down. Replace each with three, in 40 years you'll have 9 trees.
Only niggers don't realize this. Hence why Brazil is raising hell in the Amazon.

Actually clear cutting is a widely used way to regenerate forest.
It's done all the time.

Only real problem with clear cutting over here is, that it takes 40 years for blueberries to return to those regions.
That's about it.
>>
>>78741214
Plants on the forest floor are well adapted to such conditions. Even so, big trees don't live forever.
>>
>>78741614
A bunch of dead trees still block sunlight from coming through.
>>
>>78739713
The problem is, is that tropical forests are a little more than important than what they appear. They have profound influence on the atmosphere above them, and I don't mean that in terms of climate change. The entire weather patterns of South America, Africa and South East Asia are dependent upon them, due to emissions of VOCs and other things that act as CCN. They're the site where a lot of shit in the atmosphere ends up due to air movements and troposphere porosity, and it's the vegetation below which is crucial for removing that stuff.

I wouldn't cut it down, even though it's frankly a disgusting habitat stuffed with vile creatures, but because fucking with it might have ridiculous effects on systems that we have no idea about.
>>
>>78741697

Are you a scientist?
>>
>>78741465
That depends entirely on what you are trying to accomplish. Clear cutting can help certain species gain a foothold in areas that they would not normally be able to do so. However the fact remains that it still does harm the soil quality and thus should be done sparingly and over time.
>>
>>78740033
>And newsflash.....they grow back.

Please explain your reasoning.
>>
>>78742671
Actually trees are most efficient at removing pollutants while young since they go through growth spurts and don't smother shrubs, flowers, weeds, etc
>>
>>78739713
Cut down a tree, plant a tree.

That should be a global policy. That and enforce a one child per family law in all third world countries
>>
>>78742217
I didn't say anything about temperature you idiot. And I'm the furthest thing from an environmentalist, my career is in hydraulics which eventually led to measuring methane emissions from North Sea wells in order to cut down on waste, and then on to developing instrumentation to measuring methane measurements above tropics.

Did you know that all our natural methane sources are eventually transported the tropics, where hydroxyl radicals decompose it? And that said hydroxyl radicals are dependent upon water vapour, which in itself is regulated by vegetation?

Fact is mate it's pretty fucking scary how dependent basic atmospheric functions are so linked to vegetation, and how small changes to said vegetation fucks up things. Let me reiterate, I have zero issue against commercial logging, except in the tropics where it's impossible to replant afterwards.
>>
>>78740383
>Only if you do it properly (i.e. no fucking clear cutting.)
Canada has been clear cutting and replanting for over 90 years.

So long as you do replant, trees are a renewable resource.
>>
>>78739713
>paying 3rd worlders 1 bread per 1 football field of 200 year old trees, selling each for 100000 dollars.
Thoughts? USA fucks up whole world, because capitalists are evil Jesus retards.
>>
>>78743309
Most deforestation in the tropics occurs because farmers are trying to get more land for grazing and/or planting. It has nothing to do with lumber.
>>
>>78741988

Perfect. Takes about 400 trees to build a house.
>>
>>78739827
lizards live in the desert too though
>>
>>78743448
Question is why are they needing more fields, because crop is worthless. We also throw most of crops away once they get sold to distributing intermediary capitalistic retards, just so they can keep prices high, then those same people cry how Africa has no money and how they need to cut down even more. Then there is that other thing with bio fuel, where you cut down all forests and plant palms from which you get bio fuel, get it? It's bio, because we cut down forests and reduce some exhaust.

Using the lands resources is not a globalist reptilian conspiracy fuckhead. This has been going on since the beginning of time. It depends on how you do it.
>>
>>78744062
Humans have never had the capacity to extract 100% of any given resource until very recently. Your appeal to tradition won't work here I'm afraid.
>>
>>78739713
Obviously it gets out of hand in 3rd world countries...

But in Australia and most of the West, forestry is highly regulated and very well run, so that everything is replaced and not much of significance is taken away.. Still the greenies are VIOLENTLY opposed to it, they never allow any compromise.

USE MORE WOOD.
>>
>>78744927
this, it's not a problem anymore in civilized countries, everything is replaced

also drive around the eastern US some time, trees fucking everywhere
>>
>>78740151
>Environmentalism
Yes, its part of the red pill, but nothing even closely related to modern environmentalism (that goes for the last half a century of green movements).
If you want the real red pill on environmentalism, learn from people like Teddy Roosevelt.
Man is part of nature and can easily find compromise between exploiting and nurturing it. Modern greenies do not allow for any compromise.
>>

This. Manhattan apartments are trending now with rooftop gardens, little gardens literally up along the side. And massive parks are in place in and around NYC. But I guess in third world countries its pretty bad. I saw a documentary on how fucked up Brazil and Russia did stuff just to prepare for Olympics and World Cup.
>>
>>78745167
One of the problems is that said balance is impossible with the number of people living here.
We need a way to control population.
>>
>>78747433
Agreed. But modern environmentalists will tell you that the 1st world is the problem, when its actually the 3rd world. Until we accept that, nothing much can change.

Its like how we try to fight the illegal wildlife trade but never dare mention C H I N A and how its responsible for basically all of it. There's no chance of stopping it until we do.

New Forest grows everywhere thanks to humans.
Deforestation is a big lie, except in the poor countries.

In North America there is more forest now than before the first whites set foot on the continent.
Europe's forests are also growing and are more healthy than ever in the billion years of evolution.

Also: When humans create or regrow a forest, the plants will be much more diverse, animals have more space and the trees will be healthier.

Even if people in South America destroy their forests now, the stuff that regrows will be better in 100 years.
So don't fall for the ((( activists' ))) lies to extract your donation dollars.

And:

is in the best interest of humans. Nature is dangerous.
Stuff that does not serve humans or is utilised by us does not create wealth. Without wealth you cannot create the environment you wish for.

Samefag here. See, more black n white. Clearcutting in patches in the middle of nowhere ok? Thats where i timber cruised. Nobody goes there or sees it and patches are small enough compared to the tract that ecocentric concerns are mitigated. Or, in conservation areas, shelterwood or selection logging. I guess selective logging, or high-grading, would be an ultimate no-no, but, what if a landowner wanted to naturally breed a "dwarf variety"? Theres no deforestation in the first world btw. Just reforestation of young trees; too late to enjoy millions of acres of old-growth, 10' longleaf pines. Also look up lebanons' historical forests.
