It's a complex issue, but ultimately you only have to look at other Arab states to realise that a Jewish state is better than a Muslim one. There is also that after WW2, there's not much you could do with the Ashkenazi. They were as alien to Europe as they may seem to Middle East. At least Israel was undoubtedly home to some Jewish denominations at one point or another.
Israel is a successful state, and a positive note for the Middle East. I think the best resolution to the Palestinian issue would be to integrate, convert and assimilate Palestinians. They most likely are originally Jewish Muslim converts to begin with, so there's nothing wrong with that. But I understand there is still a lot of conflict and neither side would accept such solution.
