Daily reminder that Scotland isn't technically a member of the EU (the UK is), and will have to apply for membership on their own.

Daily reminder that any sensible PM will wait until after we leave the EU before granting them their independence referendum anyway, ensuring that the Scots would have to apply for membership (and thus ensuring that Scotland votes to stay in the UK).

Daily reminder that Scotland could never join the EU due to budgetary problems (no way they'll let another Greece happen) as well as Belgian and Spanish vetos.

Daily reminder that this is the 2ND (SECOND) TIME that Scotland has been cucked in 2 years. Well done Scotland! New World Record!

This is what I wanted from Brexit.

Boris and Gove were useful to an end. When the dust settles and we've left they'll quickly find themselves with barely any support for domestic policies. At least now thry don't have the excuse for EU blocking anything.
>>
I just want to say thank you lads and I hope it all works out.

What's most important for the rest of Europe is that Brexit has given a chance for serious and much needed reform even if unlike you we never actually get independence. If the EU want to survive now it will have to reform and you've made that possible by giving the EU the biggest slap in the face it has ever received.

You're basing those assumptions on the current trade deals that we have to abide by, which were written by and for the EU as a whole (read: for Germans and Germany as a whole).

Zero trade with the EU would obviously harm our economy, but nowhere near 13% of our GDP because we will increase our trade to other regions. Further, no one is suggesting zero trade: if we don't join the single market, we'll have to pay tariffs, so the impact will be serious but nowhere near 13%.

There's not going to be a vote for independence if they try the currency union bullshit again. They could effectively use the pound through a pegged currency, but tying our economic status to rUK's is retarded.

The only viable solution is the "smackeroonie", or creating our own currency with our own central bank. Initially more expensive, but it's the only solution that would be guaranteed to work.

the circumstances for eastleigh '94 are top lel too:
>Milligan was found dead in his flat in Black Lion Lane, Chiswick, London, by his secretary Vera Taggart on 7 February 1994. Milligan had failed to appear in the House of Commons as expected, and so Taggart went to look for him. Milligan's corpse was naked except for a pair of stockings and suspenders, with an electrical flex tied around his neck and a black bin liner over his head, with an orange in his mouth.

>Can't we buy and sell shit to and from other people instead?
You probably could, but it will cost more, hence bad for the economy, not to mention it would take a long time to find buyers brand new buyers for half of your entire national product. The reality is you wont stop trading with europe and you will still be subject to EU regulation
>>
>>78664617
Scotland doesn't exactly have money to burn these days, let alone once the English sugardaddies pull the plug. Creating their own currency would be possibly the only thing crazier than joining the euro.
And don't forget, there will be a period of waiting between leaving the UK and joining the EU (if they even accept you, which is highly debateable) during which Scotland will have to manage that currency as a truly independent state. Good luck with that. It would be fun to watch, from south of the border at least.

>>
>>78664650
Yes, as a full WTO member the UK can trade freely across the entire planet. There could be very little if any loss of trade (import or export).

Also, the UK is not an exporting power outside of finance, services and certain very specific areas (luxury cars, hi-tech manufacturing and shit like that, medicine and jewelry). We don't need free trade agreements because most trading nations of the world have very little tariffs that agreements are meant to overcome - and if they do we could export elsewhere!

The entire world would want to buy our stuff; if someone had tariffs then someone else would buy it instead at a better price. There's literally no need for a single free trade agreement for UK trade to prosper. One with the EU would be beneficial, but not essential whatsoever, and the Common Market was a mistake in the '70s and it's still a mistake now. It's utterly ridiculous, the UK can trade more cheaply for business and consumers with the rest of the world in most of our goods.

The EU? £5.23 trillion, some report up to 7-8 trillion though.

EU is a massive failure in economy and trading compared to other trading blocs and nations.

We have the know-how and productive capacity - after that, money is just a number. The books are balanceable - whether that means more taxes, so be it.

Scotland has a rise in oil prices to look forward to, once the Saudis stop being even madder cunts than usual, plus developments in green power make energy exports viable even after the loss of oil.

>Creating their own currency would be possibly the only thing crazier than joining the euro.

Enough from you Bruce.
The reality is that Britain definitely can't afford a trade war, no one is debating that. However, the EU can't either.

Our exports to them represent 13% of our GDP, and their exports to us represent 3% of theirs. If they shut us out, we'll be devastated (not by 13% though, as I said in another post). But do you really think that the EU can afford to lose 3% of their GDP? They're already struggling to carry Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy. A 3% knock to their GDP would put them in recession, and cause them to have to throw even more money at the struggling states.

Don't be so down-hearted. We're going to be fine. Why are you so desperate to see us fail?

Hello Philip
>>
>>78665322
Basically the story is that (one of - There were several groups) the leave campaigns had a bus with it written on the side "We give £350 million a day to the EU. We should fund the NHS instead".

Some took that to mean that all of that would go towards the NHS, they have said that no, some might but not all of it.

So they have spun this as a "lie".
