Hello Germany,

From what I understand Obama travelled to the UK for the Queens birthday and made some remarks to the effect that the UK would be isolated and irrelevant if it voted yes to exit.

Understandably this caused quite a controversy at the time but went largely unreported, except for the comment one Brexit campaigner made.

During Trumps press conference he talked about this, as Obama didn't leave his political agenda at the shoreline.

I hope this clarifies your question.

>Americans have no interest and no clue about what is happening in Europe

Well, trump voters don't. Honestly, the concept of there being a world outside the McDonalds they're sitting in really stretches their cognitive abilities.

But, those aren't really "Americans" so much as "retards."

Americans have a pretty solid grasp of the world and an intense interest in Europe. Trump is just vomiting his buzzword salad out in front of a camera that happens to be pointed at him. That's not the same thing as him "talking about Europe." He thinks if there's video of him spewing out foreign-sounding words, names and policy memes, it will make him look "presidential."

Only he and trump voters are fooled by that shit. The rest of the country is laughing at them.

Don't worry about it. In a few months he will be a has-been meme. Right now he's just flopping around and bleeding out because he isn't aware enough of his surroundings to comprehend that he's been sliced and diced into burger meat.

>Don't you understand how democracy works?
Yes, I do. People vote for their country and then politicians should take the will of the people and implement it.

In England, the vote was OUT by a large margin, similar to Wales.

In Scotland and NI, the vote was IN by a large margin.

And now the politicians have to do what the people wanted in the four countries that currently make up the UK.

Whiny cunts need to come to terms that democracy does not always hold their specific interests at heart.

So what, all of the people of Scotland/NI that voted out should be shafted because remain voters are sore losers?

Had remain won nobody would hear a word of regions with out majority talking of independence.
>>

But the UK is made up of 4 separate countries. That is a big difference to other countries, the UK is a lose federation, not a true centralized country.

No, the Scots will get a democratic say what they now want - IN or OUT. Just as English people had a say two days ago.

Same for NI.

That's honestly my main problem with this crybaby generation. We never get what we want, and we're used to it. When you do, it happens one time out of sheer national spite and luck.

The instant gratification has desensitized us to failure, and it's killing us. That's why Trump blows their mind, and why Brexit is breaking western young adults. They've never seen a majority against them because they control social media. They never left their box and now can't fathom that more people disagreed than agreed. Scotland has somewhat of a reasonable gripe considering their vote was recent, and made before a landmark decision for the UK as a whole, but generally "leave it because I don't like it" is a bad idea.

Mass Political Ideological shifts, mainly Socialism.

The Socialist Party of America was a multi-tendency democratic-socialist and social-democratic political party in the United States, formed in 1901 by a merger between the three-year-old Social Democratic Party of America and disaffected elements of the Socialist Labor Party which had split from the main organization in 1899

In the first decades of the 20th century, it drew significant support from many different groups, including trade unionists, progressive social reformers, populist farmers, and immigrants. However it refused to form coalitions with other parties, or even to allow its members to vote for other parties. Eugene V. Debs twice won over 900,000 votes in presidential elections (1912 and 1920), while the party also elected two United States Representatives (Victor L. Berger and Meyer London), dozens of state legislators, more than a hundred mayors, and countless lesser officials. The party's staunch opposition to American involvement in World War I, although welcomed by many, also led to prominent defections, official repression and vigilante persecution. The organization was further shattered by a factional war over how to respond to the October Revolution in Russia in 1917 and the establishment of the Communist International in 1919: many members left the party in favor of the Communist Party.

They are still countries.
A country is a discrete unit of land with more or less its own organizational control.

They are just named something else because they joined a union.
Doesn't matter if you use state or country.
They are literally 2 sides of the same coin.

Those leaders reporting to a higher authority changes nothing in reality.
In fact, it is preferred since unions tend to be stronger.
The US is literally the EU. (with even more corruption to boot!)
The EU is just way more fragile because it has no read solid backing. Look at how much it is shitting itself right now.
That wouldn't happen if, say, Texas did leave.
Mind you, that isn't a good comparison.
It'd be more like New York leaving.

Lazy, ill, blocked by flood...

Also, the majority of people that didn't vote likely just didn't care, didn't know or thought that the rest of the electorate would settle it for them. None of those things are a reason to take their lack of vote as a sort of vote.

Most charity donations probably go to local, or at least national charities (just like in most places)..

Also that, yeah. US senators that are straight up and publicly on payrolls of big companies, and then plea for the interest of those companies in the senate. Very strange, to an outsider like me.

Probably not better or much worse than others... I've been to Kentucky and NY and didn't notice much difference between people's general knowledge about things not American. It's not very impressive, typically. See below.

He hates NATO, and almost no one pays their 2%.
Britain does, and he's said that a UK free from the EU is going to get special treatment so you guys probably won't see any changes. The rest of Europe might get it up the ass though.

Also, I doubt any country is going to start a war with America over ISIS getting bombed.

Ignoring the possibility of trolling, if it helps and you can't be fucked to look it up, it's pretty much as follows.

England is a country
Wales is a country
Scotland is a country
Northern Ireland is not a proper country but kind of works a bit like it is in some respects.

Britain is England and Wales together.

Great Britain is England, Wales and Scotland together

Add Northern Ireland into the mix and you end up with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - basically the UK.

Britain/Great Britain/UK kind of get mixed up, even a lot of Britons don't really know the difference between Britain and Great Britain for example.

All have varying degrees of autonomy but are still kind of overseen by London - which causes its own problems as yu can imagine. We argue a lot and really only come together as one in the Olympics and war. hth someone.

Scots and English don't get along, Nobody likes the Northern Irish, Wales is pretty harmelss but nobody really listens to them so it makes no difference what they think.

He's not quite there yet. And even if he is, he's only a president.. Since when do US presidents hold significant power?

Remember that time Obama was going to close Gitmo IMMEDIATELY? Yeah. Me too. Remember that time he was going to ban guns? And that time he was going to increase background checks? And the other time? And the other time? And the other time? Yeah. Me too.
>Let the world go to shit again

A more fair comparison would be to assess their knowledge of other states. The average American doesn't need to be aware of the internal politics of a given European country. That's like insulting someone's intelligence for not knowing a random bit of trivia.
>>
>>78653332
Yes, agreed. Trump admitted to not even knowing what the Brexit vote was only a couple months ago. And now he is cheering a result that is clearly not in the favor of the US...we are already feeling the economic fall out. What happened to America first?
>>

>>

>A more fair comparison would be to assess their knowledge of other states.
Why? We were talking about their knowledge about things BEYOND the US... Notably NOT the US states.
>The average American doesn't need to be aware of the internal politics of a given European country.
I never said they did. I only said that the other American would do well not to assume Americans know the first thing about the EU or EU Member States.

>That's like insulting someone's intelligence for not knowing a random bit of trivia.

Lel, Americans are always so touchy. I never said they weren't intelligent, I said they typically don't know shit about Europe. Which is fine. I don't know shit about Arkansas.. But then, you don't see me going around these boards saying I know everything there is to know and more about Arkansas, and that my father does too.

US presidents can dictate troop movements, its how they got around not having congress declare war "officially" since WW2. He can literally order all of the military to pack up and leave those countries. The military's relationship with the office of the president is different than the other agencies.

Also Obama has been a lackluster president who didnt follow through on many of his campaign promises. Hopefully Trump won't disappoint.

I know quite a few other people who dislike that we have such a large military presence in Europe, and want to reduce our overseas military presence.
>>
>>78671595
>Not in favor of the US
The EU collapsing and losing members is actually good the US. If we don't have to negotiate with the EU as a whole on trade it becomes easier to have more favorable trade agreements. In the short run the BREXIT hurts the world economy, but it will bounce back fast.

No. Great Britain is the fucking island that England, Scotland and Wales are situated on. There is no such thing as "Britain", other than as a colloquialism for Great Britain

If you live here and don't know the difference between the UK and Great Britain, you shouldn't be allowed the vote because you clearly don't have a fucking clue about the basics of the area as a whole.

Wrong, the Brits had to point you into the right direction. Many Americans who fought in WW2, were told Germans were bloodfirsty savages who want to eat sausages made out of POWs. Meanwhile, Germans fought for Europe against the Soviets to protect its way of life.

Well, thanks America, you killed that spirt and now Europe is fucked because eventually the Soviets took over and only the no good for nothing SJWs survived the war.

You do realize it wasn't Germany which bombed Pearl Harbor, right?

As to being "entirely neutral", you remember those thousands of ships with tanks, fighter planes, food and supplies going to the UK, right?
