Regardless, older folks were using continental system (esp. the French one) disproportionately. Retirees are one of he population segments that benefited the most off the integration scheme; they get subsidized welfare and health from more heavily-taxed countries and they don't have to compete in the labor market against migrants. Elders' time is over. It's the young of today who will have to bear the consequences of Brexit. Not their elders, who will be dead in a couple of years anyway. Not every millenial is a lazy good-for-nothing, taking selfies and leeching off mom and dad. England is the go-to place for people from my country to go and study and work (and pay taxes, too). It's advantageous for us, because we are bilingual. All this could change now.
And elders aren't too wise to judge. They're on about "muh Great Britain", nostalgic for times long gone. They're irrelevant.
