You realize how small Syria is? No sides need more manpower.

The BIGGEST battles in Syria have involved <10,000 men (combined, on both sides)

Biggest offensives by red is like 1k-6k, biggest offensives by Green/Black is like 100-5k

It's literally the most retarded war I've ever seen, it's even even really all out war, it's more like just miniature skirmishes every now and then between rivaling warlords.
>>
>>78640997

Why would you want to spend 100k in one battle in the XXI century you faggot?

>No sides need more manpower.
I disagree. The SAA could do with an additional division or two, especially a fully-equipped one with plenty of artillery.

A big reason SAA's advances are so slow is the fact they cannot afford to take losses like ISIS/FSA can.

Syria is smaller than Poland, and remember how fast the Wehrmacht tore through that in 1940.

If the SAA had the manpower to simply swamp the enemy, this shitfight would have been over three years ago.
>>
>>78641606

I think that more than manpower, is support what make so long the Syria War. Assad now have more support after years just trying to deal FSA/Nusra with all the support from Saudi Arabia/Turkey/EU/USA
>>
>>78641597
>>78642589
Yes, ISIS/FSA get all that Turk/US/Saudi support, but if there were no rebels who could they arm? Who would they fund?

I mean; Captain Fritz Klingenberg captured Belgrade with literally six soldiers. A city that even then had over a million inhabitants. Sure, he had 40,000 men a day's march behind him, but he did the capturing, regardless of the support.
>>
>>78641606
A thorough reorganization of the Syrian Military would probably be more than enough. So they won't need Russian advisers anymore. That would take years though.

True, but remember that this time is not only weapon what Turkey/Saudi/USA brings into Syrian Soil, new terrorirst and Al-Qaeda militants from other countries too. If you start to cut the support to those new militants, FSA/Nusra could be defected more quickly.

Yes, and that's the sort of reorg you can't do in the middle of a war, unfortunately.

>>78643178
I know. ISIS gets its reinforcements far too quickly, and this is a big part of why the SAA can't afford to take losses. Hence my point, that if the SAA had an extra 40,000-80,000 men who were fully equipped and trained in soe sort of armoured or mechanised division/s, ISIS/FSA would be doing what [pic related] did.

got a question
who funds the Kurdish armies?

I just saw a video of Peshmerga recapturing Sinjar, but they were heavily armed with (I dare to say) some armament close to state of the art ones.
They also used uniforms, which seems surprising for a militia in such a place

PKK on the other hand seemed a lot less uniformed.

Of course there must be some racial differences and they come form different places, but who funds who in this war?
>>
>>78645832
Almost all of NATO with the obvious exclusion of Turkey and some weapons support from Russia.
>>
>>78646019
so they are like the most neutral faction?
Considering that some NGO's are funded by the US/Western countries like the white helmets and Al-Assad is supported by Russia, China and Iran

also
are NATO going to pressure Turks into stopping the ethnic cleansing they wanna do with Kurds or something?

>Kurds neutral
Not really. The largest Kurdish factions are atheist or at least secular. But they are an ethnic nationalist group. As such they will screw over people whom aren't Kurdish. That is why last year or so the stories came out of Kurds demolishing non-Kurdish villages they had captured.

They are supported by the US & Friends minus Turkey, because they are the most effective fighting force that isn't the SAA. Russia supports them a little bit for PR purposes and to fuck up Turkey. While the SAA and them have a uneasy truce. Based on the notion that they will get a little more autonomy so long as they don't declare full on independence.

The Kurds aren't going to declare independence though. Because they know it will cause Turkey to invade Syria to murder every last one of them.

Shiiit now I need to answer. Not 1940 but 1939 and not Wehrmacht but Wehrmacht and the Red Army. Still it took them a while.

Which tells us that the key to a (relatively) successful invasion is attacking the target from 4 sides.

>Which tells us that the key to a (relatively) successful invasion is attacking the target from 4 sides.

Warsaw, as the capital of Poland, no longer exists. The Polish Government has disintegrated, and no longer shows any sign of life. This means that the Polish State and its Government have, in point of fact, ceased to exist. In the same way, the Agreements concluded between the U.S.S.R. and Poland have ceased to operate. Left to her own devices and bereft of leadership, Poland has become a suitable field for all manner of hazards and surprises, which may constitute a threat to the U.S.S.R. For these reasons the Soviet Government, who has hitherto been neutral, cannot any longer preserve a neutral attitude towards these facts... In these circumstances, the Soviet Government have directed the High Command of the Red Army to order troops to cross the frontier and to take under their protection the life and property of the population of Western Ukraine and Western White Russia. — People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the U.S.S.R. V. Molotov, September 17, 1939 [69]
>>
>>78651672
France then. Or Belgium. Or the Netherlands. Or.....

In any case, you swamp the target with people and firepower. The SAA is short of people, and hence they fai to advance swiftly.

More like the most politically correct. The Western MSM has only shilled the Kurds as good guys.

If it wasn't for the Kurds the West would have to do a lot of explaining on why ISIS is so powerful.

Russia just supports them because they are enemies with the Turkroaches.

The SAA has seriously been doing terrible this past month.
What the fuck are they doing? What makes them think they can take Raqqa when they can barely hold what they already have back on their side?
If it takes them days just to liberate a tiny village, they must be living in a fantasy world if they think they can take ISIS's main town of operations in the country while they're barely holding Aleppo.

So. The day you stop eating cheetos and drinking cola and actually do something - anything - yourself, then come back and talk, ok?

You still use the same chassi for your BM-21 rockets for instance.

Could someone please explain me why the SAA doesn't deploy more snipers ? Looking through ISIS/FSA/AL Nusra videos I always see the same pattern, extremely bad hiding patterns. 1. thermal cameras aren't small enough to fit in that thing
2. the camera that is in that thing is low resolution and thus not useful for wide area scanning
3. battery life on that thing is atrocious.

Best thing to do if you want sensors up high is to make a sensor mast. Just stick some thermal cameras on top of that thing and erect it somewhere and have a diesel generator power it.

There are thermal cameras about as big as a thumb for the microusb port of your phone. They only get really heavy and power hungry if they use image sensors that need to be cooled, otherwise they aren't much more of a problem than normal cameras (well, the lenses are a bit heavier and more fragile).

They could also use fixed wing aircrafts with combustions engines for longer airtime.

They also already do that, but I don't know to what extent. Last year we saw footage of what was most likely a downed Russian Orlan 10 drone.
