Traveled quite a bit in the Navy and in my youth, best pub I ever went to was in Australia, it was Irish themed but they took that shit to the max, had a live band playing Irish music all night, small and cozy with a fire, way the fuck out from town near the outback or somewhere like that, and they had cheap beds in the attic. I live in Birmingham, and the pubs are ok. Mostly chain pubs but you'll find some good ones. Where my dad lives in yorkshire, theres a local pub and its a proper farmer pub. Before he moved he had about 15 pubs within walking distance. Everyone said hello, chatted etc. Saw my football team win a semi final in a pub last year and I was legit crying, and everyone was congratulating me. God, I love the pub. so many tales.
