>>
>>78612910
Well In 2015 the UK paid 13billion into the EU. In return the EU spent 4.5billion on the UK, 1.4billion of which Is that science money. So, If my math Is correct, fuck the EU.
>>
>>78613438
Those faggots, wasting mony on some stupid electricity, nobody needs that

Those idiots wasting money on some nuclear fusion, it's a joke!

Those morons trying to cure people with bacteria, stop funding it.

you mean the people who indoctrinate students with gender studies and socialist theory?
the fucks who spend their lives "proving" that it would be best for us all to submit to the inevitable socialist world republic?

The only worthwhile science is being done under the sponsorship of corporations anyway..

the EU funds its own vanity projects.

Yes, now that Britian doesn't take orders from EU bureaucrats, all their trade will completely cease!

Thomas Edison wasn't sponsored by the government.
>>
>>78616884
If they want to keep that trade in the same way, they'll end up having to follow EU orders anyway and nothing will change, except they no longer get a say in the rules
>>
>>78616991
they call themselves "social sciences" though
>>
>>78613753
Reposting it from last thread:

Scientist A discovers something and publishes it in a journal and gets a pat on the back, a Nobel prize and such information is available to all.

Scientist B works in the private sector, discovers something and his company goes on to manufacture a load of goods based on this discovery, generating money and consequently tax to the nation the company is based in.

The private sector funds a lot more research than grants ever do, it's just that they keep their research private to make money off it to carry out further research.

Grants are pointless really when it comes to the scientific industry as if it has any real world value to humanity, the private sector will research it to produce a good from it.

grants are important for basic and/or fundamental research. things that do not immediately translate into a competitive advantage.

still, most of public science funding goes to useless garbage and might as well be cut.
>>
>>78618375
I agree that publicly-funded research is important to frontier research, but if we're talking about the economics of scientific research, it's irrelevant.

Say NASA discover means through which we can mine precious metals on Mars, such research is required to establish that it is feasible, but any company could then use such publicly-funded research for private gain. And if we're talking in terms of economics, it's only that second part that counts.
>>
>>78617674
Yeah except the part where they can make trade deals with the rest of the world as well.

Fuck you are thick.

oh no we're so scared

>>78617674
You only have to follow EU orders if you're exporting to EU countries. Currently in the UK you have to conform to EU rules, even if you have no intention of exporting to an EU nation.
>>
>>78620176
They already do. Europe is simply a better market which they will no longer have good access to

The EU is 13% of your export market. Nobody wants that trade to stop

Not to mention you will lose access to cheap european imports and will have to get those goods from somewhere else, with all the extra costs of shipping

Britain is not going to have the same access, you will be subject to the common customs tariffs that non-EU members are subject to.
>>

>The only worthwhile science is being done under the sponsorship of corporations anyway..

This is utter nonsense, and you know it. Probably bait, but I do know some people still believe this.
>>
>>78620837
>We'll have the exact same access as before, they need our money and they know it.
Far less that you need them. My original numbers were wrong. 44% of British exports go the EU and 55%of imports come from them

Thats 13% of British gdp coming from european exports, while only 3% of european gdp comes from british exports
>>
>>78622930
>>78620837
Besides which I actually agree, trade with the EU will stay pretty much the same. But so will free movement and immigration, as well as EU regulation. Brexit keeps everything the same except britain has a worse bargaining position and no influence on EU law
>>
They could cost cut by hiring all female staff and offer them lower wages.

How is this even posted?
The money that goes in and the money that goes out was calculated and the difference is about -15 billion € a year for UK. So how less money loss would be a menace for reseach financing, cultural subsidies or agricultural subsidies, since they can finance these areas even better?
