A petition calling for a 2nd referendum has been launched and so far gotten over 200.000 signatures, shooting past the 100k votes needed for parliament to consider it for debate.

They even crashed the site for a while.

This time it wont be close, people are already saying they regret voting Leave.

If they held the referendum again Leave would win by a landslide. The 52% that voted to leave will be cemented into their position because it basically proves that the EU and ruling class don't care about democracy. The economy will have recovered by the time the second referendum was held proving that the sky isn't falling to the remain voters. Many of whom will be awoken to how undemocratic the EU really is.

It was strange atmosphere sitting on the train this morning in London during rush hour. It was eerily quiet. The whole of London practically voting to remain, there was definitely an air of defeat, and severe disappointment. I saw a woman crying on the bus. This truly is evil triumphing over good. And there is definetely a very obvious divide in the country, with the voting ratio almost 50:50. I expect a lot of tension in the next coming years.
Pride in London is tomorrow, so a bit of positivity in such a shocking time. Though, as a volunteer, I am slightly afraid of tensions. But we will stand in solidarity, we will not go down without a fight.

>>
>>78581967
Tbh senpai it might be a good idea. In a few months we'll all know what shit is going to look like a little better. Everyone is saying the EU needs to change and a shock like this just might do it. Maybe Johnson will have started the Brexit negotiations too by that point so we know what our deals are going to look like. If it ends up looking like a Norway deal then that will be seriously underwhelming.

If it's looking like a complete disaster still at that point public opinion will shift and there will probably be a reasonable mandate to call another referendum.

The situation is describe would probably be pretty good for everyone. I'd rather see the EU disintegrate and a looser union of free trading nation states emerge but that's probably crazy talk.

Something to consider:

The referendum is NOT LEGALLY BINDING, Parliament remains sovereign.

After a few months of having the economy crash and burn, the general public will swing back to the 'remain side',

The next PM will then use this swing + the fact the actual referendum was so close to seek a renegotiation with Brussels to stay in the EU rather than actually leave.

>>
>>78581967
the jokes on them and they know it, all the 2nd referendum would prove is how undemocratic the system really is. sure right now everyone that voted is worried by seeing the pound plummet but, this is just how things go, by the time 2nd vote comes around the pound will have stabilized and the leavers will win by a VERY large margin. not to mention the cat is out of the bag how long will it be before other countries do the same thing after seeing voting to leave can be done.
>>
>>78584480
the leave camp would've only grown if we hadn't had the referendum when we did, which is what nige was getting at. that's why mr. slippery pushed for it so early.
