IT HAS BEGUN!

BBC business reporter Joe Lynam reports...

Sources within Morgan Stanley say it has already begun the process of moving about 2,000 of its London-based investment banking staff to Dublin or Frankfurt. And it has a taskforce in place.

The jobs which would be moved from the UK would be in euro clearing but also other investment banking functions and senior management.

The American investment bank needs to avail of the passporting system which allows banks to offer financial services in all countries in the EU without having to establish a permanent base in that member state.

The president of Morgan Stanley, Colm Kelleher, told Bloomberg two days ago that Brexit would be “the most consequential thing that we’ve ever seen since the war"

The referendum result is a "lose-lose result" for both Britain and Europe, Airbus Group CEO Tom Enders says.

Given the economic impact, the aerospace and defence giant will have to review its investments in the UK.
>>
>>78527111

It easily could, but it won't stay down that low. The market's had an entire European/Asian stock cycle to chew on Brexit news, and since they didn't crash and totally burn, the US markets won't either.

I figure 200-300 point loss, NYSE usually reacts to severe market shocks with an extraordinary dip and then levels off at a smaller point drop once the traders work the jitters off a bit.

Dunno if it needs it that much, but yeah. Stocks are seriously overvalued vs. earnings right now, though it wasn't supercritical yet, just bloated. This may actually be a good correction rather than a crash-and-burn.

And it just pretty much guaranteed we'll only see one if any US rate hike. The June-no-July one is right out. And oil will remain depressed in the under $50 range even longer, meaning cheaper gas in the future as well.

>>
>>78528598

Depends who you ask.

/pol/ loves it because now the right in the UK can control it's borders.

Economists hate it because it's financially retarded. It's basically the definition of shooting yourself in the foot. Soon when Scotland has another referendum and leaves the UK, the UK won't have anymore oil and be fucked financially.

So basically, it's control your borders vs actually having a functioning economy.

>Soon when Scotland has another referendum and leaves the UK

The 2nd Scottish independence referendum will fail just like the first one: the polls will show a clear OUT vote and the STAY will win by 3-5 points.

The Scots are too afraid to actually try going it alone. And it'll be over once the STAY vote pounds the specter of a Spanish veto to Scotland entering the EU into the electorate's head.

Sane trade deals sound easier said and done. Not being a member of the EU would greatly harm your negotiating position. Also, with Scotland very likely to leave the UK, the UK would effectively lose most of their oil.

There really isn't any financial insensitive for leaving the EU as Britain except for some stupid immigration policy.

That is not a factor anymore. And with Britain essentially fucking the scots over it's very likely the scots leave the UK.

More countries will eventually leave, especially after what's happening Greece and Germany. People will eventually find out how bureaucratic it is.
You may think the immigration policy is nothing to worry about, but it takes generations to fully assimilate them into the economy, depending on where they come from they will take low paying low skilled jobs that contribute little to the economy and to science and engineering. Short term it's great for cheap labor, Long term it's a taxing cost on society.
