The Chinese loans are only important in terms of USD/Yuan conversion and the implications it has on trade.
There is no way for America to default on its Chinese debt unless the Federal Reserve refuses to expand the money supply. The money supply is controlled digitally, and is expanded as needed.
The recession only occurs when the federal reserve miscalculates the amount of money it needs to print, or if the Chinese dump their loans and cause a shakeup in the import/export market.
