Daily reminder that the Ainu people of Japan are related to the Pelasgian people of ancient Greece. They are a major component of what makes modern Japan what it is today, much like the Pelasgians directly affected what turned out to be Hellas.

That perfectly lines up with the similarities between Greece and Japan. Pure, honourable, highly-cultured, hard-working people.

Ainu are related to Native Americans so ironically you're just making a case for not being white.

Japanese are composed of two core genetic/cultural lineages: the Jomon and the Yayoi. Think of the former as related to the Ainu and the latter as related to Korean.

The two populations essentially merged in mainland Japan, while remaining relatively distinct in territories separated from mainland Japan with water, ie. Korea/Taiwan and Hokkaido respectively. Hokkaido eventually entered Japan's sphere of influence, while Korea/Taiwan split-off as separate political/cultural entities. That's why there's a current assimilation process of Ainu in addition to their original presence in Honshu.

Notice the unusual peaks of the YAP+ lineages. Those are the E and D lineages, which aren't majority in either Greece or Japan (respectively) nowadays, but simply exhibit an ancient common component.
