Stop reading death traps, the Sherman was the best tank in the world when introduced in 1942, vehicles like the T-28, considering the situation of the bridges in Europe would have been completely worthless, not to mention you could ship about five shermans across the atlantic for one of those, and when upgunned with the 76mm, the Sherman worked fine against the majority of axis armor. As for 75mm shermans being bad, look up the Battle of Arracourt.

Airfield bombing is, with modern technology, very difficult.
WW2 era aircraft needed a longish, flatish stretch of land. It didn't need to be paved, nor did it need to be particularly well maintained. That, and the only German aircraft capable of reaching airfields during the Battle of Britain weren't capable of carrying enough bombs to make targeting airfields viable.
Precision (as in, anything smaller than a medium sized town) bombing was a fantasy until the peak of the Cold War.

My grandfather fought with the 6th Panzer Division in the Soviet Union and took part in the Operation Wintergewitter to relief the 6th Army in Stalingrad (didn't work, by the way). He fought all the way back to Hungary and Austria and took part in the battle of Vienna. On the way home (the war was already over), he was captured by partisans Czechoslovakia, near Brün. They handed him over to the Russians who shipped him to Crimea, where he built houses (he was a mason). He returned in 1954.
On his deathbed, he talked something about Russians, but I couldn't understand him anymore. What he wanted to say? Who knows.

Under Stalin estimates were very modest actually. It's not until later that various researchers could uncover other statistics and make better estimates. 20-25 millions of civilian casualties seems about right all things considering. Plus, Japanese slaughtered another 20-30 millions in China and Korea.

Hell no, the wehrmacht had a code of honor and the luftwaffe was deliberately ordered to keep cities intact as much as possible, no bombings against culture (like churches, castles etc). Hitler/Nazis had the possibility to focus on builden the same long range mass bombers the brits had but they decided to use smaller one and dive bombers to reduce collateral damage. Paris for instance was taken without a singe bomb being dropped on it.
Of course that couldn´t be said for warsaw, poland refused to surrender the city and they barricaded themself inside the city.

The biggest loser of the war wasn't Germany.
It was Romania, Poland, Czechoslovakia, etc. Countries whose land was taken without provocation and then fought for it, and instead the only result is that they were forced to become communist. Poland lost 10% of its population and was forced by the soviets to waive away the reparations Germany owed to them for destroying large parts of their economy, infrastructure and killing large parts of their popultaion - about 525 BILLION euros in 2004 exchange rate. Of course, the soviet union apparently owed them nothing.
Romania entered the war to at least retrieve *part* of the land it lost in 1940, and was punished by not getting it back and by becoming a soviet puppet, then being forced to pay war reparations - 300 million $ 1945, or about 3.4 billion $ 2016 to the Soviet Union.
I seriously can't be convinced we were the bad guys in this.
