Once you're in Sacramento, be sure to take drive up Route 1. I've never done that myself, but I'm told is pretty fuggen awesome.
Then you can visit the redwoods, which are amazing. Get out and walk up to one and touch it. Then cut across to Yosimite National Park, which is stunning.
And if you're up for it, go further East to Yellowstone.

I lived there for 3 years and frequently went up to the north, and lemme tell ya, the south is better than the north by a longshot, at least the more, whiter, conservative areas like northern Florida. I'm not sure. I've only been to Dallas, but that place was filled to the brim with mexicans. Probably illegals, too. I used to live around Alabama and northern Florida, and those places are white and conservative as hell. Really comfy too, virtually no crime.
