All systems, whether economic or otherwise, rely upon an underlying assumption of trust. We have regulations to discourage fraud and cheating, but that underlying concept of trustworthiness is still there and will be there. You're also implying that there can't/won't be fraud with electronic transactions.
This is a primary reason people on this website despise the notion of diversity. It has been posited that a diverse population doesn't have the same values as a homogeneous population most of the time due to cultural/racial differences and general feelings of superiority/inferiority amongst different groups.
America is unique in the sense that we are still standing, despite our diverse population. Most hard working Americans believe in the American creed and try to have that supersede their cultural /racial values.
