Just like the monoamine theory for Jewish SSRIs endorphin has an awful lot to do with mood control, a lack causes risk taking behaviour and one (very small and almost insignificant) study in the US found that prescribing low dose buprenorphine ~1mg pwe day had an 80% success rate with refractory depression.
