because water is for degenerates, it comes from the toilet? what are you cindy a toilet person? gawwwd

no but really, millenials aren't all poor, some have daddy and mumsy's money to pay their rent till their mid 30s and have all those support systems, but they'll only end up pink collar or whatever, you know, living in the guesthouse, driving a BMW but still flipping burgers.

there aren't any jobs because well, you weren't brought up to negotiate, now it's an automatic dealbreaker in the interview, where back in the day they'd sya "you know what? i fucken like this guy, he's got the right sutff, rye or burbon?" now its batch-hires to the lowest bidder, and any meaningful position is being held by long tenured employees, depending on the company,

made 18$ an hour for the last 8 months? hope you haven't fallen for the targeted advert racket buying onesies and pokemon cards because guess what? you're going to be on welfare for 2 years.because you're now overqualified for the position and underqualified for a career.
>>

There's no career prospects anywhere. There's "tech" jobs that only seem to exist online and people wanna commit sudoku by the time they're 27. At this point i think jobs are memes. literally every person i know under 30 is unemployed or makes less than 15 an hour.

This
Nobody I know is happy or making above 15 dollars.
It's not that they were lazy, they've been hard workers their entire life, they're stingy smart people. But in this market they just get fucked .

Most people have withdrawn come society or taken low pay jobs that make them want to die

And yes they're STEM and interned
>>
>>78242077
>all that shit
millennials give themselves the illusion of being poor because they cant afford expensive high end things like luxury cars or an apartment in the middle of the city.

30 years ago, fresh graduates suffer just to get food on the table. rent is cheap sure, but life in general didnt get easier until theyre in their 30's
>>
Most Americans are poor and don't even own their cardbox houses. Failed state.

>>78242081
sounds about right.
worst part is everyone is playing ostrich with it and asks from the top down "so why don't you have a job yet?"
>that's still a thing?

but yeah, simple, you generally have to be an actual, literal dick sucker, and a scheming pile of shit, like that mincy cunt from mad men, rather than like, be actually good at your job, you have to role play like some fucking soap opera.

and if you get a real man's job breaking stones or something, well, you're going to go broke on muscle relaxants and you're going to get scrawny not buff, and every now and then some middle aged, balding manlet forman who is likely fucking your highschool crush and your girl next door is probably got some insecurities about his fleeting masculinity and andropause and will go off on a red-faced "this work ain't good enough" veins in neck bullshit.

STEM is a meme.

We need to get rid of capitalism, automate as much as possible and share the rewards. There's no sane reason to work long hours in the 21st century, it's just capitalism requires it to squeeze profit from the workers.
>>
>>78240994
Prices of stuff and anything in general are increased by inflation and greedy corporations, while salaries are way, way smaller.

ALSO, most millenials tend to jump from job to job, instead of keeping a good steady job, making a career and gaining experience and skills for a better position and raises.

>>78241683
>housing costs so much
It really depends on place here in Mexico, houses got smaller and cheaper, you can get a house for $15,000, but they are usually 2 small rooms and 1 bathroom and 1 living room/kitchen, back then like 20 years ago, we had big houses but the cheapest ones were like $70,000.

Earlier meme answer aside, for the vast majority of us, the American Dream of old is gone.

Gone are the days where you could work a factory job out of high school and raise a family, take vacations and the like. Gone are the days where dating involved a chocolate malt followed by a car ride down to Makeout Point.

We don't get that shit, because Boomer McFuckstein saw it fitting to piss on what their parents taught them. The state of affairs with the millennial generation, moving forward, is grim. Hell most of my socializing comes from talking to you faggots here. The world ain't appealing.

Those days are gone but you misread why.

Why is the proliferation of tickledown economics and rise of technology which made factory jobs obsolete.

The rise of technology is a good tjhing, it makes us more productive, it increases our standard of living. The problem was our politics allowed the rich, the factory owners, not the factory workers to benefit from this rise of technology. We were told what was good for the rich would ultimately benefit us all, but they made education too expensive for any of us to have a chance.

now everyone in the 3rd world owns a cellphone. it's the only arguement that lines the fat pockets, that moving forward, things get more accessible, cheaper, faster to produce, more functional.

but then what? you have communism, everybody is on welfare, granted it's a comfy rock bottom but it's still just that. and honestly, McD has maybe tripled or quadrupled in price since the 90s, wages have not, I could be wrong, too lazy to google numbers.

1. Too many people going to college + educated foreign workers coming to North America. This drives up requirements for many jobs.

2. "Middle tier" work like manufacturing is largely gone, pushing a lot of people who would work those jobs into lower paying retail and service industries.

3. More expensive lifestyles. Go back 25 years: you didn't have computers, smart phones or internet to pay for. You can't even completely get by without them either as it's an expectation that you have such things by employers. (Although you can get fairly cheap solutions for them)

4. Housing market. My parents house doubled in value in the last 15 years. Cost of housing has gone up and rent has followed suit.

>median gross rent increased to a high of $602 in 2000, more than double the gross rent in 1950 (after adjusting for inflation).

So TIL

More debt, cost of living is higher and competition for a stable income is higher.

Couple that with the fact that jobs dried up once boomers realized that they can't afford to retire.
Then there's the inevitable global economic meltdown that's on its way which makes working, saving money, and exerting effort seem like a wasteful endeavor.
>>
>>78245087
yeah that's mostly true, but the distancing of the classes is increasing, our country used to make shoes, piece of trivia i learned somewhere, people made good wages, upper 10s lower 20s, it cost a bit more to produce but we didn't have to import them making them more or less equally priced and in the 90s they shut it all down, shipped it overseas for profit and and index points.

but yeah the housing and rent prices are ridiculous, it's extortion for basic necessity, pure gouging, you can't even get a job without a place to stay, which is ironically the loop homeless people find themselves in, they can't just show up to a place without a printed or emailed CV dressed and smelling like a bum, with not permanent residence or method of contact. and people know this and don't want to be homeless, back in the 30's sure, but standdards change, which is why iphones with some form of connectivity are part of this necessity, not just a luxury. or at least a pc and internet.
>>
>>78245452
Every business expects an entry level worker to have as much experience and their seniors. It's retarded.

How is someone going to get the skills and experience for an entry job if they can't get the entry job without skills and experience.

It forces more experienced people into lower positions with less pay and kicks beginners out of the equation.

Also bad Parents. This is more of a side effect than a direct cause.

See, today both parents HAVE to have a job in order to keep a house over everyone's head. Back in the day only the dad needed a job. Now everyone in the family needs a job. Leaving less time for interaction and teaching kids to become adults.

Add on to that the fact that kid's are now having intercourse earlier as a result. We are now seeing babies pop out at an exponential growth rate. It's not going to get any better in the coming years.

this. The American Dream is gone, but many of us were still raised on the American Dream by our Boomer parents. So we know what we are missing hard, because we were still sold it.

many older millennials remember their pre 2001 childhood. they remember going to blockbuster or the movies as being a common occurrence, not a splurge.

Then they remember going to school and being fed that in the brave new world of THE YEAR TWO THOUSAAAAND you needed to go to college or youd be flipping burgers your life. And that shits for squares! Hell, any kind of industrial job is for POOR people! You go to college Timmy, and you'll be the next Bill Gates!

then 9/11 happens, breaking the American Spirit. Then the war on Terror happens, dragging it through the mud. Then the financial collapse happens, and destroys it completely

And we've never recovered since, and all those Timmies who went to college, either ended up flipping burgers anyway, only with a debt saddled degree that doesnt help them at all, or were fed a steady diet of liberal marxist propaganda and consumed by social media and became tumblrites with stupid actually worthless degrees.

and among all of this, the rise of social media and 24/7 connectivity with smartphones, have degraded our social skills to amplify our worst, so not only has our economy been broken, but our society has as well. All while the generation who fucked it lets it all burn, and STILL tries to fuck it further.

This is another huge factor.

Baby boomers are some of the worst parents in history. Most of them got pregnant when they were high off they ass from all the drugs of the 70's and then we're like "well fuck we have a kid now", and then proceeded to barely make ends meet while having the mentality of a party-loving college kid well into adulthood.

Why do you think so many people from this generation can't hold a conversation and suck at dealing with people? They needed a parent to RAISE them to become a well adjusted adult and look what happened.
>>

I don't think we can. The prior generation had jobs where the work was shitty, and couldn't be automated which allowed for people with average intellect to get houses, cars, etc. Now you need a legit degree in a legit field, which kinda leaves our average person of intellect in the dust.

I will say that in about 15-20 years time, with wages still being stagnant, and baby boomers dying, there will be excess supply in a housing market due to extra inventory, bringing house prices back down and/or stabilizing them. So that's nice. (Just a pet theory of mine)

>>
>>78248862
You need to realize that you aren't special in any way, shape, or form.

You are a tool of the government. You are a soldier to be used as seen fit by your superiors. A soldier is built to protect and serve. A soldier has no room in his toolkit for emotions. All that matters is accomplishing the mission. You need to complete every task to a 'T' at 110% efficiency. Make no mistakes. Your screw up can cost someone their life. Without proper training you are useless to your squad. Everything requires teamwork, you work together with those around you. Acting hot headed makes you a liability not an asset.

>>
>>78240994
Older generations have done a great job fucking us over.
>>
>>78240994
A lot of reasons, really.

>Pride and Value Buying
Typically, you get what you pay for. Most younger people have fallen into the interesting trap of going purely for middle ground brand sort of deals.

For instance, the person not willing to spend more than 100 dollars on shoes that would last them 3 years, but also not willing to buy used goods. So, they end up with a really shitty quality shoe they bought for 80 dollars that got replaced in 1 year.

It gets especially bad when it gets to food and rent. Many people I've met refuse to budget their expenses, or shop at lower end stores due to some idea of a stigma being attached to where the hell you buy your vegetables from. For rent, it's a quagmire of "I want the best I can afford, and I'm willing to pay more than 1/3 of my income for it." So, they get a nice apartment they don't generate equity in, and then lose more than 1/3 of their income a year. Other great categories for this are basic clothes, and cars.

>Loss of confidence in education
There is a very interesting disconnect between employers and employees. As it has become easier to obtain a post high school education those very same educations have become a bit dubious to most employers; many don't trust the certifications given, and many more don't want to pay the extra money for an overqualified candidate.

>High turn over
The average turnover for the last five years of a person aged 20-30 has been about 6 months. People are switching careers and abandoning jobs rapidly, and employers are fucking terrified. Initial joining benefits are very limited, many businesses are preferring contract to hire modes of operation, and of course, raises tend to be tied to performance over a long period of time.
>>

I'm friends with three different people who are software developers. They make a fuck-ton, but are always stressed out of their mind.

>>
>>78248529
M8 the reason house prices don't go down is because reatards keep taking out loans which technically enables them to buy houses.

As previous financial crises' have shown, the banks aren't concerned whether or not the debt gets paid back - at worst they end up with the house itself, and can do with it whatever the fuck they want.

When a financial crises' does occur, the gubmint just bails them out, things stabilize, and the process starts again.

The only time house prices fall down is during a financial crises, where banks stop lending so there aren't many buyers in the market, hence the dropping of house prices.

Beyond that, no, house prices will never go down. Not unless people continue to keep taking out loans.

then you have other forms of saving
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvZSpET11ZY

I guess there's also the notion of actual saving, meaning, putting money aside that you don't spend, rather than expecting it to increase on its own, for things like a down payment on a car or house, emergencies, and nothing drains savings more than unemployment, worse if it's tied into a pension and they tax your ass 200% for taking it out to buy noodles and detergent.

This generation is very screwed up, but who raised them?
It's like seeing a shitty, vicious dog and blaming it for being a shitty, vicious animal. Of course it's a shitty vicious animal, but who raised it? Maybe if it didn't have a horrible owner and wasn't raised in horrible conditions, it would actually be a pet worth owning. I know it's a crappy metaphor but you all know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, the "economy" is barely relevant now, since we don't even really have an economy anymore. Half the time, the money isn't even real.

Because the boomers and GenX destroyed every shred of generational wealth this country had, drove up costs of living, simultaneously increased the cost of education while devaluing it with shit like feminism, and elected cucks like bush and obama

Finding a job works funnily just like dating.

Not really, no. Twenty per one for ears and that includes the jewelry. Things get more expensive for body jobs but even then the price doesn't go up that much. A good tattoo is expensive but that's because you actually have to travel most of the time to get good work done.

>inb4 GenX calls Millennials idiots
>inb4 GenX hypocritically calls boomers scumbags.

GenX is responsible for the rise of 3rd wave feminism, safe spaces... all the SJW bullshit you see in colleges. Sure, they were taught it by the boomers, but they are responsible for passing it on the Millennials. Millennials are the first generation since the early 1940's to en masse begin to think for themselves, instead of spouting the same rehashed communist shit they learned in school, no doubt thanks to the internet. Get out of here with your millennial bashing. You older fucks need to bend a knee and let us fix the fucked up society you're leaving us with.

>Academia is one huge money scam.

In your country it is. Over here college and university is almost free, and if you're from a poor family you can easily get interest-free (!) loans to cover everything, including food and rent. The idea is, students should be able to focus on getting their degree as fast as possible, instead of being forced to work part time jobs just to afford their education. Students get so many benefits here that a lot of people just keep on studying, or stay enrolled even after they pick up jobs.

We actually tried to convert our system a while ago by introducing university fees and "punishing" people who don't get their degree "fast enough". And introduced shorter bachelor degrees for students who can't wait to become wage slaves. Guess what? It backfired. The industry soon realized that bachelors are useless and overall a lot less people went to uni so the result was a shortage of skilled employees. And being a real first world country, well, we don't have that much demand for half-trained monkeys anymore. So we went back to the old system.

>Live in a shitty, but serviceable apartment on the cheap

And then I hear and see a bunch of my friends and classmates constantly flying and vacationing all around the world, going to expensive bars and restaurants, and tell me to just take out more loans. I'm losing my fucking mind.

GenX here, and I agree completely about the SJW bullshit. It's not a new trend at all, therefore it's stupid to bash "millennials" for it. Radical feminism was going pretty strong in our gen, but as you say, we were taught it ourselves. For example by pic related, she literally spouted slogans like "cut off all dicks" on mass media while we were young.

However... it's kinda normal for older folks to look down on the youngsters. When you're in your 20s you think you got the whole world figured out, been there myself. Couple decades later you realize how immature you were regardless.

Sounds like you guys' problem is the extremely expensive schools. And the fact that every minority can do it for almost free, plus they employer gets subsidised when they hire a minority.

Try getting a mortgage with 100k in debt and a "steady" income of 15 an hour. Good luck.

Meanwhile in the Netherlands, my parents saved us 6000€ plus 1 worked one summer vacation full time at a grocery store. This combined will get me the second highest Law degree I can get. (The highest non-specialised). My school takes care of a 36 hour a week job during my last 2 years where I can repay my parents in about 5 monthe and save up the rest to buy a car when I leave school. (Don't need one now because our PTS is great and the government pays for it if you are a student.

It's not the boomers, it's your country. They made the American Dream impossible for the average white American.
