You say that because you only see the past and not the future. Your description of the glass is based upon the last action performed on the glass. If you fill it up half way, it is half full. If you empty it half way, it is half empty.
You should free your mind from the temporal prison you have constructed for your perception. You need to see objects as they will be. If the glass was just filled up half way, it still needs more liquid, so it is half empty. If you are emptying it and it needs half the water poured out, you should say that it is half full.
