Anyone supporting gun control is tried for treason and hanged.

Heres another perspective. Considering a president acts as the face of the nation. If Donald Trump gets into office, he should emphasize gun safety and responsibility as a tenant of his administration. Doesn't that create an impactful sentiment, or would it all just be show?

I showed my wife my ar15, and she wanted to hold it. She put the stock over her shoulder like it's some sort of bazooka.

She'd fired a .22 before. She knew how to hold that.

In my country you either need a hunting license which you get from studying and passing a test or you have to be a member of a gun club in order to buy a firearm, and most people can't be bothered.

Also we don't have dedicated gun stores. You have to go to the hunting section in a sports store and they only sell two-barrel shotguns and semi-automatic rifles (or what's it called when you have to pull that thing back and forth for each shot). I don't actually know if it's possible to legally purchase any other type of firearm here even with a license or a club membership.

I like the "3-day waiting period" so that police and the FBI can look into your background and determine if there is reason to withhold weapons from you due to terrorist connections.

I also think if they agree that if your purchase should be withheld, that there should be a period that the person can find out why the purchase was withheld, and and to protest it (within 1 month of attempt of purchase).

During this time, of course, if the person is actually a suspected terrorist, then they should be watched by police in case they try to go build some bombs or something that they can be watched better.

If the person is withheld for any suspicions other than terrorism or terrorism connections, and it seems like the person was put on a watch list out of political or revenge tactics, then they should be able to receive $5000 at the end of their protest. This is if the "suspicions" seem to be for anything other than terrorism or terrorism connections.

For the most part, stock grips on weapons are shaped nearly identically to pistol grips. On my rifle it feels pretty much the same, yet my rifle is not regulated like an AR or AK and is 100% just as lethal, designed for combat, and used by military/SWAT. Only difference is the stock extends from the back of the grip, and not from a point above it.

>>78173120
Sen. John Cornyn R-TX (backed by the NRA) proposed something very similar to this. People on the watch list are already known to the FBI and are being investigated or at least monitored. His proposal was that if you attempt to purchase a gun while on the list, the FBI has 3 days to convince a judge to block the sale.

In theory this is a good way to keep dangerous people on the watch list from buying guns while also protecting regular people who might have mistakenly ended up on the list and keeping a semblance of due process. One potential danger is that judges will just automatically block every sale that comes to them, because the consequence of being wrong is too great. This defeats the whole purpose and is the same thing as a blanket ban for everyone on the watch list, but with added judicial bureaucracy.

And they refuse to even acknowledge that the Republicans tried to pass their own bills and the Democrats didn't like it.
>>
>>78174738
There is always a way around it

Just wait, I'm sure potential terrorists, not on or on a list already, are buying up guns right now. Imagine the denial when they attack after the law is passed.

Not like it matters. I can't find one terrorist or mass shooter on a watch list that would have been prevented anyways.

And if they're so dangerous that they need to be on a list and prevented from buying a gun, why aren't they already arrested? Surely they can be charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism or something.

>comic completely ignores the fact that it was republican congressmen who tore obamacare apart and then put in all the garbage we wound up with
Why do Republishits spout this meme so much? Obamacare when it was introduced was significantly different than when it was signed into reality. And it's all thanks to Republicans who realized they couldn't prevent it from being passed, so instead they changed as much as they possibly could so it would pretty much match their own proposed health care system, which, of course, is largely beneficial to their buddies in the health care industry and detrimental to the American people as a whole.

We could have had something nice but, nope, Republicans.

The most ironic part about all this is that the stocks that the grabbers ban actually have a diminishing effect on accuracy.

A fixed stock will give you the most accurate shots, anything else will either not effect it or as mentioned possibly lower accuracy.

I guess completely foldable stocks do increase the ability to conceal rifles, but again, at the cost of accuracy.

We need to do something about people being able to into a store and get a semi-automatic AR-15 after a seven minute background check...

Seven minutes is way to long. Anyone should be able to walk in and walk out with a fully automatic AR-15 with attached grenade launcher and a case of beer without any wait besides waiting on the cashier to take your money.

The right to bear arms shall not be infringed, and any wait, registration, or restrictions infringe on my god given rights, period.

That said, if you are a non citizen or are a convicted felon and are found with a firearm, you should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. And store owners should be able to not sell to whoever the fuck they feel like.

Require licenses for all purchases.
Have a meeting with the local police force explaining why you'd like to own a gun.
Not have any mental issues on your medical record.
Must have a gun safe wiht a lock on it at all times to store guns when not in use.
When taking guns out has to be for a purpose, going hunting or to the range.
Films showing excessive gun violence automatically receive 18 (R) rating.
Magazines limited to 12 rounds for handguns, 20 rounds for semis.
Full auto machine guns prohibited.
Limit of 120 rounds for bullets, 24 shells per customer.
Legal age for firearm use 16.

The Democrats vote down the bills that actually have a chance at remedying the problem, because they call for due process, which reveals they don't give a shit about gun violence, they care about controlling people. They are openly stating that they want to ban anyone from buying guns with no due process, no way to get off the list, no way of knowing you're on the list, and the fucking President decides who's on the list. Pure tyranny.

>>

If the sale is blocked the terrorist now knows he has heat on him and he'll fuck off until the investigation expires. You spooked the game.

They'll also use private sales.

Here's an idea. If someone on a no fly list or terrorist watch list buys a gun, the FBI is instantly notified and they go code red on the guy. Your best hope is to slip this legislation under the radar so your average abu hajaar doesn't know about the system.

Hopefully they find enough to get a warrant and raid the guy, otherwise you're not stopping the attack unless you have agents stalking him 24/7

But none of this matters because the terrorist watch list is poorly maintained and inaccurate.
>>
>>78170496
A modified Swiss system.

Every citizen has to go through military training and will be issued a duty rifle they have to store at home.

Private sale of revolvers, pistols, semi-automatic rifles, bolt action rifles and pump-action shotguns should have no restriction other than registration and a certificate of citizenship ( which is received after military training and mental health check ). Automatic rifles should require a license that can be issued after proper training, registration and screening at a gun range. Anyone with a criminal record containing a felony will completely lose their rights to firearms for life.

Immigrants may not own any firearms unless they accumulate a certain level of points and pass military training. They accumulate points by having proficiency in the native language, by having an academic degree and by working a job and paying tax contribution. An additional background screening will be done on such persons before they receive their certificate.

Open carry of firearms should be completely legal but the chamber may not be loaded and safety must be on ( where applicable ). The focus should be on safe handling and holsters that are up to standard. People should have a respect for the rifle because it's an emblem of one's ability to defend himself and righteous citizens around them. This should be worn with pride like we once wore swords - not with irrational fear.

Ok.

No semi autos rifles for 2+ times violent offenders or for people that are on psychotropics. Only ''ordinary hunting guns'' meaning single shot, side by side, over/under, pump action, bolt action, lever action and handguns.

60 day waiting period for 20> round magazines and semi auto rifles that are fed with an external magazine. Meaning rifles like the SKS are totally unrestricted while ar-15, ak's etc are.

People that want to carry concealed weapons needs to pass an exam. Nothing fancy, just ordinary gun safety shit and some examples of when its ok to brandish and when its not.

Then remove all restrictions on length, silencers, tactical accessories and all that shit. If some one wants to have a 10 inch AR with pistol grip, silencer, laser pointer and bipod then let them.

I don't mental health restrictions because ''mental health'' can be changed on a whim to include basically everything. Don't like LGTB? You just must be mentally ill. Don't like Obama? You must be a mentally ill racist. So i prefer something like a waiting period so that crazy people that get a crazy idea about shooting up a school or something are at least forced to contemplate a bit on it instead of being able to do it spontaneously. Mass shootings with bolt action rifles are unlikely to reach double digits.

I think any semi automatic weapon with a box fed magazine that fires a bullet of 5mm in diameter or larger and has a case length of 33 mm or larger should be classified as an NFA weapon. Not banned, just restricted at a higher level.

No cosmetic definition, just a functional definition.

An M1 Garand would not fall in this category, but an AR, or AK or Mini-14 etc would.

The reason given for pistol grips being an "assault weapon" feature when making up a ban list based on cosmetic features was that it promotes easy spray firing from the hip, as demonstrated in Hollywood action movies. Even though a standard grip that is part of the stock is angled to have better ergonimics for holding a rifle in that postion.

It's blatant what they're trying to do.

All firearms, ammunition and firearm accessories are legal to buy and carry wherever you wish.
It is also legal to use those firearms as long as doing so does not violate the law (ie: you can't murder someone just because and you can't target practice at the local movie theater)

The only thing you have to prove upon buying a firearm is that A) you're 18 years old, B) You're an American citizen.

If somebody goes around saying they plan to commit crimes once they buy a gun and the FBI is aware of this, why can't they do something about it once they see the person has a weapon?

Or at least let that information be available to background checking organizations so gun shops can make the choice on their own.

The smart ones will buy weapons privately, on the black market, or get them from terrorist connections. But this might have prevented the last shooting we had because the guy was making no effort to keep his purchase a secret. The problem is the FBI was "finished" with their investigation and they dropped him off their radar.

Power isn't the issue, "firepower" is. Its why the army switched to the smaller 5.56 round. It provided more firepower. The 30-06 round is indeed very powerful, however the 8 round magazine of the M1 plus the time it takes to load one, would make it impractical for a mass shooting.

Ban a semi-automatics but you get to own all the bolt-actions and revolvers you want and can conceal-carry everywhere.
>>
>>78178195
No, the army switched to 5.56 because it was lighter weight and easier to carry more of it

>>78178219
No, I think nigger gangbangers need to be hung on street corners

>over half

There are more gun owners and constitutional supporters than not, you red book-thumping tool. Take your pinko ass to russia, faggot.

Deflect. Deflect. Deflect.

First, you acknowledge that we should be making laws with careful and logical statistical analysis, then we can move the goal posts to handguns and discuss their merit.

99% agree with this, though I think felons should be able to appeal to a judge to get their firearm rights back.

Fifth Amendment. No person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law.
Travel may be essential to someone's job or a passion of theirs. Yet they may be punished and restricted from doing so without even knowing or having a trial. As well as possibly the Seventh Amendment.

Freedom of movement under United States law is governed primarily by the Privileges and Immunities Clause of the United States Constitution which states, "The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States." As far back as the circuit court ruling in Corfield v. Coryell, 6 Fed. Cas. 546 (1823), the Supreme Court recognized freedom of movement as a fundamental Constitutional right. In Paul v. Virginia, 75 U.S. 168 (1869), the Court defined freedom of movement as "right of free ingress into other States, and egress from them."[1] However, the Supreme Court did not invest the federal government with the authority to protect freedom of movement. Under the "privileges and immunities" clause, this authority was given to the states, a position the Court held consistently through the years in cases such as Ward v. Maryland, 79 U.S. 418 (1871), the Slaughter-House Cases, 83 U.S. 36 (1873) and United States v. Harris, 106 U.S. 629 (1883).[2][3]

Well then we'll just have to develop less-lethal rounds, and ban everything else.
>>
>>78170496
all citizens may have full access to all arms with no paperwork or fees required
>>
>>78178185
Would you then support any weapons ban that applied equally to the government? e.g. no select-fire.
>>
no regulation of firearms whatsoever. PERIOD. If the government can possess it, so can the people.

Yeah that was my point, the 5.56 was lighter, and could carry more, thus more firepower, the same with going to the M9 vs the M1911. Although personally I prefer the M1911 when you're only allowed to use FMJ ammo such as the military is. With 9mm ball, I might as well just throw the M9 at the guy.

lel ok

>>78178336
So you want to ban all modern firearms?

Good luck

I'm assuming there weren't as many Jews armed as there are American people but did they at least try to fight this law in groups?

redrafting... any weapon in existence that might in some, even the most remote, foreseeable manner be helpful in overthrowing tyrannical government or turning back invasion.

>Ban a semi-automatics
No.

We've compromised enough.

We're done compromising.
>>
>>78178537

Yep, The no-fly list wouldn't hold up against a reasonable reading of the constitution.

How can people feel justified in calling other people "nuts" when they literally want to abolish the founding document of the country which gives them the rights to say whatever they want in the first fucking place? Don't you feel like a hypocrite?
>>
>>78177661
>No, but they aren't directly comparable.
>Guns aren't physically addictive.

You missed the point. There's no gun control just like there's no drug control.

The only thing you can have is "The war on" guns. Which would kill far more people.

>>78177661
>Restricting semi-automatic rifles is just a way to mitigate lethality in mass-shooting situations.

Which are statistically insignificant. Also good luck with confiscation.
>>
>>78177862
Maybe if you hadn't done Pearl Harbor, I'd believe you.
>>
>>78170496

to be honest, you don't really an assault rifle to deal with the muslims
>>
>>78178274
You make a good point. Maybe handguns should be banned, too.

>>78178476
Well, it is a good point. Why not handguns? At least semi-automatic ones. The men who wrote the second amendment didn't have them, after all.
