The post-modernist/post-colonialist philosophy that is the undercurrent of modern leftism is built upon the central pillar that the West (white, male, capitalist, straight, Christian, etc.) is inherently oppressive and that it is responsible for all social and economic injustices across the entire globe. It's adherents are incapable of framing an event, problem, social or economic issue in a way where the West is not the antagonist in the conflict, because they are the oppressor class and everyone else is the oppressed.
Muslims, who are generally brown, non-Western, and former servants of colonialist powers, do not qualify for that oppressor class. Their social problems and the clash of cultures when they migrate to western liberal democracies, therefore must be the fault of the host nations for not being welcoming, supportive, educating, or multicultural enough, and not the fault of the Muslims whose religious doctrine flagrantly contradicts many of the values that the post-modernist claims to hold dear.
Compound this with the fact that, thanks to the writer who coined the term "Islamophobia" over a decade ago, that the left now perceives "Muslim" as a race instead of an ideology, further inoculating them from criticism on the grounds that to do so would be an act of bigotry and racism rather an authentic intellectual criticism of an outdated religion, as would be true of equivalent criticisms of Christianity in today's times.
If you reframe what the left ultimately wants from "equality, tolerance, women's rights, gay rights, et. al" to "the dismantling of traditional Western values, norms, and capitalism," it's a lot easier to come to terms with what appears to be blatant hypocrisy.

I understand what you're saying, but it still doesn't make sense. Islam is dominant in nations of all three races on earth. Eastern Europe has Islam, Western China, southern Asian nations, east Africa, etc.
