I want more funding, not less. Conservative economics has lead to us relying on the odd passionate millionaire donating some money after they retire. Businesses don't help as much as they claim they do, and the community has to try and help. No amount of small donations and the odd bit of volunteer work can really help us get on top of pests. Dont get me wrong, the more people willing to volunteer and help out, makes everything better, but we aren't making headway on defeating the invasive species. We are losing the war, we can only temporarily halt the advance of the demise of populations. Everyone likes to see greenery and think "wow such beauty, we must be really great at conservation, here in NZ" but we lack the support we desperately need. We need innovation and man power, which means vastly more capital needs to be expended. Not an easy task for such a small country to provide.
