Hamm's rationalization here is that it wasn't all the individual species but "kinds" see God said "two of their kind" so it wasn't like lions, cats, cougars. etc it was basically just one big cat couple. 5000 years isn't enough time for that sort of evolution to take place. It took dinosaurs millions of years to evolve into birds, and even then not all species did.

There is still no mechanism in evolution as compelling as the benevolence of creation that can explain why single celled organism that weren't fit to live in the world and whose manifestation can only scientifically be described as coming from disorderly, dangerous conditions could create more order and safety for more complex organisms that would exist in completely different conditions.
