They built an Ark to exact scale, the way it would have been built. The people who did it were affiliated with AiG or Hamm(in Netherlands I believe)
It's been scientifically proven the Ark could not have possibly held 2 of every animal. Noah's arc is a fairy tale based on sumerian stories. It's impossible for the earth to have flooded. There's not enough water on this planet.

This. However literally every single culture has a stories of a "big flood".
>It's impossible for the earth to have flooded. There's not enough water on this planet.
This is where you're wrong. During the last ice age sea levels dropped. You have to remember that at it's worst, you literally had miles of ice covering most of the northern hemisphere. It wouldn't be surprising if as that melted, in particular if some catastrophic even happened and cause rapid glacial melting, that there are a lot of areas of the world that would experience flooding. It would make sense then that a lot of "great" flood was simply passed down oral stories from a few thousand years before civilization.

>This. However literally every single culture has a stories of a "big flood".
South American cultures don't, and they were around during the believed time of the flood. Also many Asian civilizations existed at that time as well, with no oral history of floods. I have no down some flooding occurred in the European land mass but to say every civilization has them is a Eurocentric point of view.

>This is where you're wrong. During the last ice age sea levels dropped. You have to remember that at it's worst, you literally had miles of ice covering most of the northern hemisphere. No doubt, and there must have been some flooding event, but given the time between now and when the flood is said to have occurred, there's no way that much water just vanished from this planet. Not without the help of heavy volcanic or meteoric activity to obliterate that water. Even if all the ice on the planet melted today, at least 60 percent of current land mass would still be dry.
>>

That's what is hilarious to me. Only 2 situations are possible with Noah's Ark. Either Noah's Ark is just some old tale that didn't happen because it impossible to fit every animal to exist on it, or Noah's Arc did happen and the reason we have so many species now is due to evolution. Either way, Christianity is BTFO when it comes to this story.
>>
>>78118891
He didn't save every species, he saved every kind and all the species evolved from the different basic kinds of animals.
>>
>>78119274

I have no down some flooding occurred in the European land mass but to say every civilization has them is a Eurocentric point of view.
Again you're taking things out of context you fucking idiot. I never claimed that Noah or "that" great flood literally happened nor did it happen around that time. The reason why South Americans cultures *typically* don't is because around the tail end of the last ice age there weren't people in South America. As far as Asian civilizations go, if you look at the map you'll notice the core of Asia was effected, right? Also the people currently occupying Asia weren't the same populations that occupied it 13k BCE. Also
>Eurocentric
Fuck off with your buzzwords.
>No doubt, and there must have been some flooding event, but given the time between now and when the flood is said to have occurred,
I NEVER fucking argued that it happened when it's said to have happened.
>there's no way that much water just vanished from this planet. Not without the help of heavy volcanic or meteoric activity to obliterate that water. Even if all the ice on the planet melted today, at least 60 percent of current land mass would still be dry.
Again, look at the fucking pic I posted, that was all exposed landmass, notice how much more there is? That's because most of the northern hemisphere was LITERALLY buried in ice sheets miles thick led to lower sea levels since so much water was all trapped in the icesheets, this is literally a fact.

Does that map show the entire planet flooded? No, it doesn't, yet that's what the Bible states. Also you dumb fuck. The ice age ended approximately 11000 years ago, yet archeological evidence proved people migrated to Chile 15000 years ago. Therefore South Americans arrived 3000 years before the majority of ice melted. Yet no oral history of floods.

Did the koala and wallaby float to the Ark on pieces of wood? Ken Hamm thinks so because it's the only way to explain the Ark theory.

You're statement still doesn't account for the intense diversification of life. The biblical flood happened less than 5000 years ago, there isn't enough time between then and now for evolution to have produced that much change in species.

Think of the Ark project as a natural tax on stupidity. Im a christian but your "young-earth" comment resonates with me. I think people who genuinely believe the earth is 6-10k years old are basing it on faulty info. We Christians believe the Bible is literally the Word of God spoken through men and that it is infallible. There is more that points to an ancient world but the first thing to notice is in Genesis, before the earth is even formed....before there could have been earth rotation or solar seasons...God is calling a period of time a "day." A day to us is essentially the spinning of the earth. What if a day was measured the same but there was no spinning for millennia?

Tl;dr: lots of reasons to believe in an ancient earth instead of a 10k year old one, even for creationists

Yeah Ham's whole point was as a Christian you need to take the Bible 100% literally. When it says a day, it means a day. He goes into that extensively.

I'm an atheist but I used to be a Christian and the old Christian part of me would still challenge this notion.

>I think people who genuinely believe the earth is 6-10k years old are basing it on faulty info.

I think it's because they WANT to believe, obviously. And they need intellectual ammo against evolution. Ham provides them with things to copy and paste during internet debates basically. AiG feels like someone making up as many rationalizations as possible to stick their fingers in their ear and go "NUH UH!"

The concept of evolution just poses a question or challenge to their doctrine and they just have to attack that, period. Even though evolution doesn't say if god exists or not. It's just "this how things change over time" and Ken Ham even acknowledges that's true but insists things don't ever change for the better, just for the worse.

>>
>>78124142
>Will it float?

>>
>>78123464

Hamm's rationalization here is that it wasn't all the individual species but "kinds" see God said "two of their kind" so it wasn't like lions, cats, cougars. etc it was basically just one big cat couple. The rest of the species we know came from these two starter "kinds" as they spread out all over the earth after the flood, the water was lower and there were able to make it to every continent.

All of this was like 5000 years ago by the way. It only took 5000 years for all these species to come from two of their "kind". Dinosaurs were one of the kinds but they too changed, into birds and what not.

This rapid devolving is because of Sin. Sin makes species get worse over time.
>>
>>78123464
Also he didn't save two of every kind, he saved seven pairs of the clean kinds and two of every kind of unclean.
>>
>>78123632

This does not prove the bible wrong. If anything it confirms the things stated in it. The problem with this is that if you choose to believe in evolution anyway in order for the ark story to make sense, then you might as well just accept that the animals came about via evolution in the first place, eliminating the need to literally interpret an old religious document on which to base your worldview.

Earth's been around for 4.5 billion years.
Life's been around for about 4 billion years earliest estimates. Definitely by 3.5 billion years.

Earliest evidence of multicellular organisms is a little more than half a billion years ago.

Basically life *did* just divide in single celled simplicity for several billion years.

Once the whole multicellular bit was sorted out the complexity options opened wide.

Life doesn't *favor* complexity, its just something that happened that seems to work. Since more diversity is possible with more complex organisms more "try and fail" cycles could occur which got things moving even faster.
>>

>>
>>78126339

Complexity is needed for redundancy, which is necessary in a hostile, disorderly world. If all life had remain single celled, that would have created a dangerous bottleneck

Also, you're explaining something backwards that happened forwards. Complexity wasn't the cause for the survival of organisms, but a necessary consequence of the world we live in. The world is disorderly and dangerous, which will result in highly complex organisms, as simple ones die out
>>
>>78126710
>Once the whole multicellular bit was sorted out
This is the other leap of logic I referenced that isn't actually explained in the theory.

>Life doesn't *favor* complexity, its just something that happened that seems to work.
If it invests unnecessary resources in maintaining undue complexity beyond reasonable expectation as if there were external protections, this is what I call favoring.

>more "try and fail" cycles could occur
Single celled organisms divide so much more often than complex organisms breed, how can there be less cycles?

There is still no mechanism in evolution as compelling as the benevolence of creation that can explain why single celled organism that weren't fit to live in the world and whose manifestation can only scientifically be described as coming from disorderly, dangerous conditions could create more order and safety for more complex organisms that would exist in completely different conditions.
