Where I grew up, Cops were people to be admired. They were seen as selfless citizens whom took it upon themselves to uphold the law, and prevent moral decay. They were also seen to be understanding, humorous figures.
This was mainly influenced by the states. Things changed so much in just 20 years...

My grandfather told me stories like this all the time. He had a motto, if you're a cop there's 3 things you'll see every day: dumb niggers, lazy spics and horny women. He told me a similar story about pulling over a blonde teenage girl in Ft Lauderdale, she was literally 15 or something, and beating the shit out of her black boyfriend (it was the 60s). While she was still crying over it, he told me that his buddy just kind of unzipped his pants and told her to start sucking if she didn't want to go to jail. My grandfather told me they eventually double teamed her in a nearby forest, and drove by her house every day for sex, meeting her dad and telling her she's a suspect and she needs to go downtown for questioning at first, then coming up with new excuses like she's a witness in a major crime, or she got into some trouble and we're placing her under protective custody. From what he told me, her dad ended up disowning her because of all the police "trouble" and she became homeless for a while. They let her sleep in the station where they also fucked her.
It was fucked up, but my grandfather was a great guy, it really bothered him that they took advantage of that girl and he was drinking continuously almost every day until he died sometime after I turned 18.
