what's the correlation between socialism and ugly buildings?

Well, communism involves quantity of quality. The people who designed and built these structures couldn't give a rats ass if they did it right or not, or even if it was pretty.

Absolutely nothing. Buildings turned to shit across the entire world after the 30's. Panelacky's (what my Czech parents call those socialist concrete towers) aren't any uglier than 70's American brutalist architecture, or modern tract houses.
>>
>>78069862
Because gommies can't really into anything other than starve and mass murdering.
>>
>>78069862
Why would architect give a shit? Not like he's being paid well and given an incentive to make it look pretty.

It mostly depends on what dictator wants.
>>
socialists are obsessed with the deconstruction of conservartive values.
They built shit and torn down buildings just to smite their enemies
>>
> tfw neo-brutalism will never be a thing.

Why are architects such massive fucking faggots with their fruity shapes and shit.

That style became popular worldwide starting in the 50's. The lack of ornementation symbolized the break from the old imperial/aristocratic world order after the two world wars. Unfortunately the architects failed to realize that this style looked like utter shit.

Why can't we just bring back art deco? Or any style pre 1940's
>>
>>78069862
Beauty would allow preference. Socialists want everything uniform so no one can have more or less.
>>
>>78069862

Soviet Realism, and function over form.

why would you need to make your tenements look good, when you can save some money.

>>78072245

art deco is very beautiful
>>
>>78069862
Beauty is oppressive. Ugliness is equality.

You can't make ugly things beautiful but you sure as hell can make beautiful things ugly.

All the care about is making everything the same. They'd rather tear down things to make them equal than improve them and increase inequality.

That is why leftism/socialism/communism is nothing but pure evil in the dullest most mind numbing form possible.

no real incentive.

It mostly began with khrushchev. Before that the Stalinist architecture looked quite nice and produced some very cool things like the VDNKh, the seven sisters of moscow and the like.
But to be fair the Stalinist period was very conservative and nationalist so i don't know
If anyone is intrested you can watch that about the VDNKh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZ273YrckFc

Destruction of the trade and craft of architecture, just like all other mediums of art. Its easier to draw a box and mumble something about being contemporary concepts and open spaces then actually having to learn something complicated
>>
>>78071364
even if he did want to make it look pretty he'd be told that he's wasting state resources and possibly executed for daring to have an imagination when not everybody can have one.
>>
>>78080654
I've read some places that more traditional style buildings are actually cheaper than glass and steel buildings.
>>
>>78071436
I like this and the Palace of Culture in Warsaw

its at least a very imposing and proud looking building
>>
>>78076163
Can you imagine what a commie would feel as he saw this skyline compared to the commieblock he lived in?
