I never want to defend the government whatsoever but why are we scared of government agencies like the NSA and pseudo-government agencies like Google mass collecting data? If they're just mass collecting all the data from every user on google, if they eventually decided they wanted to pull your individual file, wouldn't it take years for them to even run a simple binary search algorithm to find your info?

>collecting data
>shit you willingly give them
lel
>>78053516
thats a bullshit argument
>lol if u dont want ur data collected then just dont use the internet xdddd

oh shit ur right!!
i love hillary now #hillary2016

>it's impractical
>therefore, we can let it fly for now
That's just poor policy. Just because it's a pain in the ass for the government to fuck you up doesn't mean they should have the right to do it.
>>78055353
I mean, that's not how algorithms work
No matter how good their hardware gets it still has the same time complexity to try to search through that amount of data
And hardware is not improving at the same exponential rate it used to
I'm just saying that sometimes, we give the government too much credit and overestimate what theyre capable of
>>78052917
Yeah, just like it takes years to search any database for entries.
>>78056840
In databases, you only input the information that's relevant to your database.
In an NSA data bank, they keep everything. I don't think you understand how many fucking trillions of terabytes that is
>>78054809
he's right though. how can they collect something that isn't there? why post something you arn't completely 100% ok with representing you? the internet isn't your right, it's a tool, a tool thats monitored and you accept that when you use it. if you dont want that then dont use it, or heighten your personal security to make it impossible to tie back to you.
Is that that chick from that incest anime?
God I should really watch that again. Akira best.
>>78054678
You can use the internet and not give out all your data.
Google isn't a monopoly yet.
>>78052917
They probably focus their search.

>The NSA uses a clapped out toaster running Windows ME

But shouldn't privacy on the internet be a human right?
I think it's pretty obvious that a civilization with internet access is going to be a more intelligent, more connected, overall better civilization. So if you want that to be the case you have to insure that people have privacy on the internet.
>>78058484
You don't understand computer science
>>78052917
what is a hash table the thread
called respect
>>78052917
They filter all traffic for keywords like "bomb" or "alah" and if you said something of them they start to watch you.
>>78052917
I would support this shit if the government/corporations were incorruptible. But handing over all your information to a human institution is not something I'm willing to risk. Hopefully there'll be a solution for safety and privacy but I don't see it happening anytime soon.
Also 50Cent a cute.
At this point you shouldn't even be caring about even more date they might take from you. You SHOULD be afraid that they figure out a way to use the data they've gathered so far, and they will. We're all going to be fucked once they do.
FUCK OFF CIA/FBI SHILL
I DON'T DO ANYTHINGS ILLEGAL
>>78055933
>what are quantum computers
just because they can't do it now doesn't mean they never will.
