Polygamy wouldn't work really. First of all it encourages the men with the most wealth to snatch up most the women. Look at Middle East, you have bunch of unmarried young men. They're angry because the older men get like four wives each, plus bunch of mistresses. They're stuck with nothing. If they had a family jihad wouldn't be a thing.
