Schönborn wrote the infamous passages in the catholic catechism of 1993 about homosexual, that you should 'treat homosexuals with respect and love'. This was long before the gay thing ever escalated to today's batshit insane levels; these passages contributed to the escalation, because suddenly there was zero critique of homosexuality from the church.

what we would benefit from, actually, is an abandoning of seminaries; in the middle ages priestly education was does in universities; seminaries are relatively modern, and the problem with them is that their closed environment means that it easy for them to be corrupted; seminaries aren't as intellectually open as universities. A priest tells me that the current generation of candidates for priesthood are generally a lot more traditional.
