What never seems to be brought up though is that most people who are charged with drug possession were originally stopped/arrested for being suspected of committing some other crime. If a load of crime has been committed in the area and you fit the commonly reported description, of course the police are jusified in searching you. How the fuck else are they going to catch criminals? And it's not the police's fault if all the crime reports describe the perpetrator as black. Yes, you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. But presumed innocent doesn't rule out potentially guilty. If you're found guilty then you're sentenced. The police are not sentencing you, they're not treating you as guilty. They're treating you as potentially guilty, which obviously, we all are, but some are statistically, realistically more likely to be guilty.
If the police didn't focus their attention on suspicious individuals and searched everyone indiscriminately, they wouldn't be doing their job. If you happen to suspiciously resemble a guilty criminal then you can expect to be treated as being potentially guilty.
