wait wait wait, I've been hearing for a while that trump has seen a slide since orlando in polls. And while I understand that the polls were slightly skewed in terms of representation against independents even with that margin it still showed a trump slump, but now polls are equalizing?
How can there be so much fluctuation over the course of just one week unless one of the samples just coincidentally had a large amount of outliers/not representative of population, or maybe both.
Individual polls don't matter as much as polling aggregates and swing state polls, so even though I support trump I'll remain cautious until we see a clear sign of a surge.

Both the Monmouth and Bloomberg polls sampled less than 750 people (you need 1000 as a bare minimum for accurate sampling) and were Likely Voter, non-random, which means they asked pretty much anybody. both polls also sampled democrats and "independents" to a much greater degree than republicans.
Meanwhile the Gravis poll sampled over 2000 people, asked only Registered Voters, and had a random sampling, which gave a much more accurate result. And surprise surprise, this Morning Consult poll sampled over 6000 people and was also an RV poll

I used to work for a company that collected demographic information for radio and television viewing. It is well known in the industry that every poll and data collection is skewed by the very nature of the person who will answer questions.
For example, if you call a landline in the middle of the day your respondent is going to be likely a) female, and b) unemployed. Further, because she was willing to answer your questions she is also likely lonely, meaning she views the world from a perspective of social deficiency. This woman will therefore gravitate toward the candidate that best represents her desire for social change, meaning the one that will allow more of her female friends to stay at home so they can have tea parties like they used to.
Unless the polling agency polls across demographics until each category has the required number of responses, the poll is invalid for the majority of the population. Most don't do this because getting enough 25 year old males willing to stay on the phone for 10 minutes in the middle of the work day is almost impossible.
At the company I worked for, we would send out surveys with cash. You were paid more if you were in certain categories. Young males got paid a lot more than older females by several times.
