There's actually three ratings that collectively operate the nuclear plant from the control rods to the screw and everything in between (which is a lot of shit). It's a heavily undermanned job field and we get paid more and are taught a certain superiority because the job fucking blows beyond everybody elses, but at least it's kind of cool and we're better than everybody.

Depends. There's a lot of jobs that specifically recruit us depending on our specialization (like nuclear power plants) . In general we can get tech jobs pretty easy since we're already technologically adept and probably have degrees by the time we're out. And also we have gi bill and can go to college for anything and probably excel. I have, for example, a friend that designs ac systems for DoD buildings, a friend that's in regular hvac, a friend that's a geologist for an oil company, and a friend that is a history teacher. I've been reading through the Navy's website and it all seems really nice. It all makes sense but I just don't see how I'll be able to get into college or advance my education while actively serving as a sailor. I understand the Direct Appointment for college graduates into an officer's position but I haven't attended school.
Will they give me the opportunity to attend a 4 year college and finance it with an oath to serve after the education is complete?
I might just lack the intelligence for all of this. I live a comfortable life but I've always been really fond of the subject and could never afford to attend school without the help.
This is probably the wrong place to ask for advice but I appreciate it. I'll ask my brother since he served in the Armed Forces but I doubt he'll be able to help much. Might just need to talk to a recruiter but I've heard they're extremely aggressive to get you to sign up and won't be of much help besides getting you to enlist.

You can attend using tuition assistance while AD, and CLEP some courses. I strongly recommend it, it's free and one of my regrets is I didn't utilize it. The GI Bill can cover a 4 year, just tuck money away the VA takes forever to process your stipend for books and your housing pay the first time you use it.
