Prime Minster for 10 years till the Canadian people forgot how retarded the Left was.

Not that I'm impressed with him. He could have pulled the overtone window back for social conservatism in that decade.... Never did, and so, the parasitic welfare Uni weed smoking class, that he LET fester and grow, threw him out.

Anon, I can't even describe show shit your opinion or brain is to defend our current PM.

And then to insinuate Harper or his party is Right Wing? Harper was an corporate oil shill, who probably fancied himself a small L Libertarian at some point, before selling his soul for crony capitalist cock.

What exactly do you hate so much about alleged free markets? Because that's the ONLY SIGNIFICANT POLICY difference between Harpers Conservatives, and the current Liberbals once you realize their song and dance is a smoke screen.

The new deal didn't do shit government intervention is what created the Great depression, Roosevelt literally ran on the platform that he wouldn't be involved like Hoover was (who was responsible for the biggest tax hike at the time) but changed his mind when elected, WWII is what got America out of the depression. Also social security did lead to the grounds for the growth of socialism.

Also a side note during Coolidge we had a recession that was worse than the 30 crash that fixed itself in a matter of months because Coolidge wasn't a dumbfuck to get involved like Hoover and Roosevelt did.

He's using shady tactics to destroy competition, and in 2011 he joined politics with his own party, bough huge marketing campaign, and almost won (as a new party). And now he's using his political power to destro competition.

>entered WW1, canceling chances of stalemate and peace treaty between European powers
American involvement in WW1 was almost guaranteed regardless of what Wilson wanted. I don't think you understand just how much Britain and France were relying on America, through loans and supplies. It got to a point where America would have collapsed had the Entente lost the war. This lead Germany to thinking America siding with the Entente was inevitable (it was, really) and so they acted aggressively with their U-boat campaign and offering Mexico support for an invasion of southern america thinking it was already a foregone conclusion. This German aggression was ultimately what forced Wilsons hand. He also offered peace terms which were flat out rejected by Britain, France, and Germany. He wanted peace, Europe wanted war. What more could he have done? Tell me, please. He also had republicans like Teddy Roosevelt frothing at the mouth for war.

>denied sanctuary to Nicholas II and his family, leading to their violent deaths
The Tsars had it coming. They failed in almost every single measure at running their country. Russia becoming the Soviet Union is far more complex than just the Tsars being forced, it was tied in with the war as a whole.

>established Federal Reserve, permanently enslaving country to bankers
The Federal Reserve was also something that the American population and bankers were screaming for and was already in place in Britain (Bank of England), France and Germany. He tried to limit it but in the end he had to do something. In a democracy you can't tell people to fuck off forever.

>So can a Canadian tell me how Harper was as PM? Did he minimize immigration from third world countries, or was he more like Bush?

He did very little in terms of social policy. More or less left things as is. Focused on giving steady leadership and creating as calm a market as the government could.

He didn't invest in oil sands, that was provincial level option of the oil and gas producing provinces. He didn't strip away protections for the environment (a popular leftist lie), and didn't invest in useless and expensive green projects. His government mostly did minor bookkeeping updates to old and wildly out of date institutions and laws. The popular claim that he removed protections for waterways, but actually removed 100+ year act that defined navigable waters as anything you could float a canoe in as if we were still 1800s fur traders.

They forced a lot of recording keeping institutions to digitize and throw out hard copies to save space and money leading to lies about wanting to destroy the climate record so we couldn't prove global warming.

The also enacted limits on what government employees could say in their authority as a government employee. Leading to lies about trying to muzzle scientists.

He expanded the temporary foreign worker program to allow in cheap unskilled labor. The left lies saying he started it (it was actually Trudeau Senior that started it in the 70s).

His government was pro Israel which helps when the USA is also.

He started an EU trade deal but dealing with the EU is almost exactly like dealing with the Polish Confederation because any one member that object stalls a trade deal.

He championed Canadian exports and pushed for pipelines, rail connections, highways and bridges to the US, as well as expanded ports to the rest of the world.

Stomped on banks that wanted freer regulations and avoided needing to bail out any Canadian banks after the 2008 crash.

In short he was a dull administrator.

He cut budgets across the board, leading to yet more leftist lies about defunding science. Rather than slightly defunding everything.
He told world leaders to focus on fiscal restraint and trying to balance budgets and control the more wildly unregulated finical markets.

He lowered the national sales tax by 2% over his terms.
Picked up after the past liberal government that sent an under funded military into Afghanistan and didn't cut funding until the combat mission was over.
Pushed forward on a deal to buy into the new standard fighter of the western world (F-35) which the current Liberal government vowed to kill once they were in office.
Pushed forward on deals to finally replace our 40 year old naval helicopters that the Liberals killed when they were elected back in the 90s.

Had more 'free votes' in parliament than any other government in Canadian history. (a free vote is when the party MPs can vote anyway they want without risk of party censor for their actions)
Had as many Female ministers as the Weedman had until Weedman made up new ministries and put women in charge of them.

Asked the supreme court to rule on changing the totally useless and expensive senate. They said nope it's not fair to Quebec.
Got along great with Bush.

Yup. Most of the oil is transported by rail, and it leaves a bigger carbon footprint than pipelines ever would.

But I'm sure Bill Gates sponsored some of those groups since he has a vested interest in CN Rail.
>>
>>77895593
>I notice you posted nothing negative about him. It's good to see a balanced opinion on /pol/.

I called him dull.
I said he cut finding to government services across the board.
I said he cut the sales tax.
I said he kept the military fighting in Afghanistan.
I said he tried to buy the F-35s.
I said he did almost nothing to advance social justice causes.
I said he didn't invest in green tech.
I said he expanded the TFWP.
I said he failed to get a trade deal with the EU.
I said he pushed for pipelines (and didn't get them). I said he restricted banking with regulation.
I said he advised other world leaders to adopt austerity.
I said he was pro Israel.

That's more or less the list of complaints leftists have against him and his government.

If you don't think he did anything negative that's just because he was one of the greatest leaders of Canada.

But the fucktards in Ontario wanted someone flashy with experience in teaching snowboarding as the PM.

You spun nearly all of those as something positive.

You forgot to mention that he ran his campaign on accountability and transparency, yet his government was just as opaque as ever. MPs were kept on a very tight leash. This control extended to government departments and agencies (including forbidding researchers from speaking to the media, and that was certainly isn't a liberal lie). This is a point that even conservatives have brought up as a criticism.

You also forgot to mention Bill C-51 and all previous attempts at increasing domestic surveillance powers. Now we're stuck with it, and Trudeau will make some weak amendments to it, if that. We've also found out that under the Harper government, CSIS and the RCMP were spying on environmentalist groups.

You also forgot to mention that he also eliminated per-vote funding of political parties. His rationale (and you can check the party platform for the 2011 election, if you wish) was that it would save the taxpayers money. It saved around $35 million, but also means that smaller parties that have more difficulty fundraising will have a much more difficult job doing so. It also puts the Conservatives and Liberals in a stronger financial position. If you don't think this matters, come back to me when Trudeau pushes for ranked ballots without proportional representation and without a referendum, and tell me that isn't a political move to secure Liberal majorities for decades to come.

I can go on, but several of the things you listed, such as the F-35 procurement, were definitely mistakes. By the way, it was the Liberals who got us into the F-35 mess in the first place. I suppose now that I've told you this, you will automatically change your opinion on it. Also, while Harper pushed for more banking regulations internationally, our own regulations were in place long before he took office.
