Supermarkets here throw away so much food daily it's insane. Most managers will hook you up with food if you ask them but dumpster diving is illegal some places. Plus who wants to eat it once it's been thrown in a trash can when they will just give it to you anyways.
>>

That's hilarious considering capitalism is way more efficient at allocating resources. I mean you can say something about manufactured obsolescence but for things like clothes or shampoo you are not going to have a better way to reduce waste.

For food it's a little tricky, since when food prices collapse they destroy excess to prevent further price decreases instead of giving it out, even when people are starving. Regulations against destroying reserves could work well though.
>>
>>77770591
That is assuming they offer products you actually want. The socialist would only stock products the central planning committee thinks you need or should use.

People responding to this and saying "WOW I BET SOCIALISM/COMMUNISM IS BETTER HUH?? ONE GOVT STORE WITH ONE BRAND"

I didn't think that was the point of this post... Why do you HAVE to embrace any modern system? I thought the point of this post is that buying everything you want in little plastic bags in a store in which you give money to Jew companies is a bad thing. I think there should be no "brands" or "stores". Most people think that is pure lunacy though.

This is all true, I worked for a local supermarket here but the amount of food we threw away was still TONS.

Not only the bakery and the fruits/veggies but we had a deli/hot food area and alot of it was made and sat in the display case never to be bought or eaten.

We did give away some of the bakery items to a local homeless origination so at least it wasn't a total waste but mostly we threw it out.

I didn't but then you have to stop at another store for the other stuff. Can't just make a one stop shop since a 4 person family doesn't need a gallon of mayo.
>>
>>77772807
Those problems exist because of the weakness of the state.

What corruption can truly exist in business? If you don't like how a company is acting you can vote with your wallet. You can't not opt out of taxes levied by a government to pay for corruption and bad programs. You're forced to pay the government for all of its bullshit.

As far as greed, once again, the problem is the state. The more regulations a state imposes, the harder it is for entrepreneurs to establish businesses that compete with the ones you hate. Big business loves big government because they can pay off politicians to regulate competition out of the market directly with red tape and bureaucracy and indirectly with tax breaks that give big business the advantage.

As far a prisons, once again, the problem is the state. Private business has no legal authority to detain people and throw them in prisons, only the state has that authority or the means to give business that authority.

Your friend has misconceptions about what capitalism is. Capitalism is simply the voluntary exchange of goods or trade with both parties expecting to come out ahead.

What your friend really hates is crony capitalism where a massive state is susceptible coercion and corruption. This is why its always better to have a smaller government because the smaller and more limited the government is, the less it is corrupted by big business and lobbyists.
>>
>>77772324
Meat Clerk here, We just rotate our stock and have regular markdown when an Item is three days old in our display case. It starts at 50% off, but if at the end of the day, nobody want it, we can mark it down even to free.
And I have had people turn down free, perfectly good meats, which proves that the excess of capitalism leaves no want for the majority.
>>
>>77769708
yes we will
just with those aisles shown you can make a decent guess at how large the store is
Just in grocery alone you would need to hire six full time employees for your dry goods as well as five to seven part time employees
those employees will be supervised by a selection of around three team leads, and assistant manager, and department manager.
That doesn't include the full time employee for frozen, dairy, health and beauty products, and low 'velocity' products. Each needing at least one full time employee.
That's at least 20 employees for grocery alone.
Then you have the meat department, bakery, pharmacy, deli, and customer service.
For one supermarket all together you need at least 100 people to maintain the store. All working at different shits throughout the day from 4 AM to midnight .
And we aren't even including the vendors who stock their vendor items (Coke, Pepsi, Nabisco, Nestle, Hallmark, etc) and the drivers for the trucks witch make at least five deliveries a day.
Capitalists will defend this because it works.
Source: I work in grocery

Capitalism is not always efficient at allocating resources. Look at personal cars. Everybody drives to work in their 5 seater car all by themselves. That's a massive waste of resources.
>>
>>77775015
No it's not

Have you ever been to Costco, they sell individual items that aren't in bulk. Some things you can buy in a reasonable amount and others your only option is a Giant jar.
>>
>>77774597
>This is why its always better to have a smaller government because the smaller and more limited the government is, the less it is corrupted by big business and lobbyists.

So, you're saying it's ok for big business to make direct, unregulated business with the consumer?
Wouldn't big business be corrupt? Why are they always considered demigods or some holy figure by the "smll guvamant" folks? Are you being naive?
>>
>>77774802
Yeah we would give stuff to a organization for free but Only if they picked it up, so if they didn't come get it we would eat some ourselves but alot of thrown away.
>>
>>77775130
Yes I agree, the state was very pathetic and got their public transit plans wrecked by car manufacturers. Less people would need cars if there was viable transit.

I am NOT for pure capitalism, regulation is needed. The problem is preventing corruption to ensure effective regulation and not crony capitalism laws.

Socialism has the issue of corruption AND more inefficient resource allocation

Who is to say such large business would exist without the state to encourage their growth without stifling their competition?

Look at the banking industry in the United States.

In 1984 the Continental Illinois bank made some really shitty investments in bad oil and gas loans, mostly because of a fraudulent executive. The bank would have been the largest failed bank in US history but "luckily" the FDIC stepped in to save the bank instead of just it's depositors. This created the term, "too big to fail".

What did this mean for other banks, well if you want to invest poorly in things that might or might not pan out or make really shitty investment choices, you don't have to worry about it, the government will show up with its pocket book of money it doesn't have to bail you out. So after 1984, the bigger the bank you are the better because you'll be too big to fail.

In 2008 the financial crisis was caused in part by this. When the Lehman bros were doomed to go under, everyone expected big government to bail them out, but they didn't and so all the rest of the huge banks froze capital (aka not lending or investing shit), which means that job creators and business was put on standstill.

The government also fucked us by artificially lowering home mortgage rates with freddy mac and fannie mae (because owning a home is a "right and part of the american dream", by buying up mortgage debt from banks and reselling it as mortgage backed securities which ultimately became worthless when the housing bubble finally popped causing many people to lose their homes and become financially ruined.

So yes anon, keep believing the government is out for your and your interests.

Super computers aren't magical entities that will mystically super-optimize everything for all real parameters. They still require human inputs and calculations and as such their calculations are still prone to huge levels of error and probably always will be.
