I feel like if you don't have kids, eventually you and your wife may get sick of each other's company. My friends and family are all starting to have kids right now (mid to late 20s), while my wife and I have no interest in it, and we're getting bored more often.
The problem we're finding is that more and more we don't have other couples or friends to do things with. Nobody wants to go camping or hiking anymore, they can't afford to come kayaking and canoeing, or on a motorcycle trip with us -- all the things we're used to doing. Instead, our friends are spending all their time on their kids (as they should be).
So my wife and I do all these fun things on our own. We just got back from a long backpacking trip, for example. But how long will this keep the two of us entertained?
I'm starting to feel like you need to raise a family with your partner in order to make the relationship last. Once you are raising children, you have a common goal to work towards with your wife, and you always have other people to spend time with.
I'm not sure what to do. I'm 26, and have never wanted children. I still don't. But I'm getting bored. I love my wife, but I think we need more social interaction that isn't just the two of us.
