Because the news attaches the likely perpetrator within 24 hours to a far right magazine and agenda. This means that the far right position is vilified and the undecided lean to liberal (i.e. remain) side.
Because he is the classic lovely-loner, who would never hurt a fly. This means that he is either more susceptible to suggestion or easier to frame.

Some pollsters are saying that the undecideds are likely to split 2:1 in favour of Remain (of those who bother to vote, of course. Some will not bother voting).
I think this sounds reasonable. If you ask the undecideds who they are likely to vote for if they HAD to, about 25% say Leave, and 25% say Remain, and 50% say they still don't know. But you can assume those Don't knows will mostly swing for the status quo, so 2:1 is reasonable.
On that poll, a 2:1 swing amongst all 13% of the Don't Knows would be enough to give Remain a victory, even without assuming that there is a slight swing to Remain from the people currently saying they'd vote to Leave.
So yes, that particular poll would probably indicate that Remain will win.
Leave need a solid 5pt lead in the polls.
