The Basque language fascinates me. It's a language isolate spoken mostly between Spain and France. My theory regarding the Basque language is that it's the last living remnant of the Atlantean language being spoken by an ethnic group that are the descendants of Atlanteans who sought refuge in Western Europe. They went to the Pyrenees to escape the sea levels that were rising at the end of the last Ice Age. I could be wrong, I don't really care either way. It's fun to speculate and we'll probably never know for sure.

Then what is your magical explanation? What is your source for the last time it was above water? I have looked briefly into it and you haven't given me an explanation.

If it isn't the natural result of geological causes and it isn't from a long dead civilization what could possibly have caused it?

Those are the two most viable reasons for it and one of them or even both are probably the correct one.

yeah because its a form of etruscan that the celtic tribes in that area picked up when the Etruscans were the main traders in the area. Before that the Iberians traded and mixed with people all along the Atlantic coast of Spain, France and Britain so that might be partly why there's some shared celtic heritage.

>Definitely sounds like Astras were some next-level physics fuckery.

Yes, it does. The Astras were actually bestowed to various human warriors (kshatriyas) by the 'gods' of Ancient Indian 'mythology' who I consider to be real beings. They're real and I think that they're not 'extraterrestrial' per se, they're higher-dimensional beings and they likely inhabit the same space that we do but most people can't see them because they exist beyond the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we call 'visible light'. We open our eyes and think we're seeing the whole world out there. But what has become clear - and really just in the last few centuries - is that when you look at the electromagnetic spectrum, we are seeing less than 1/10 billionth of the information that's riding on there. We call that 'visible light'. But everything else passing through our bodies is completely invisible to us. Even though we accept the 'reality' that's presented to us, we're really only seeing a little window of what's happening.

>Also, if such weapons really did exist, it makes it all the more likely that society has destroyed itself several times over.

Yes, it does.

before the ice age ended, it was much easier to spread throughout the world..all you needed to do was island hop because thanks to the combination of glacial isostasy and the vastly lower sea level, there were islands everywhere across the oceans..

plus, all you really had to do back then was travel coastlines because all the landmasses were connected back then thanks to the land bridge.

after the ice age, it became a lot harder to travel those distances

> the celtic tribes in that area

That area was inhabited by the Basques, not the celts, plus even genetically speaking Basque people have really few Indo European admixture.

Pic related, the Caucasian hunter gatherer component (Aqua blu)which was brought by Indo European speakers is almost completely absent in the Basques and in most Iberian, in fact some Iberian groups liek the Turdeitans preserved a pre-indo european language well into the iron age.

Sardinians most likely spoke a pre-Indo European langauge and they lack the CHG almost completely like the Basques.

An the Basques didn't give rise to the coastal rock tomb phenomenon, they began after the arrival of bronze technology and farming with central European populations aka celts. Those celts settled and bred (actually very little evidence basques existed before 8000BC though) with local populations. I can imagine in the less traversible (celts began quite mobile) areas and even an island liek Sardinia there may have been a survival of hunter-gatherers as there was in Gernamy and northern Europe.

The Odyssey takes place in the Atlantic..

Calypso's island and palace were remnants of the atlantean culture..Calypso herself was the daughter of Atlas, first king of Atlantis, son of Poseidon, which was the god the atlanteans worshipped and was also the reason Odysseus couldnt return home, and all of the creatures Odysseus meets were in some way related to Poseidon(Cyclops was his offspring and the Phaeacians were also long lost descendants of his who lived in a mythical kingdom and were the best seafarers of their time)

Calypso's island was in the Azores..

Cerces islands were near the canaries and the islands just outside Gibraltar..

The Laestrygonians/Cyclops were more north in the atlantic..The Irish have myths of islands west of them that had some sort of remnant giant race that occasionally came and attacked them..Also the tuatha de danann apparently came from "tir na nog" which was some sort of mystical land west of ireland..Also the fomorians sound a lot like some of Odysseus' creatures and came from some sort of sea underworld..

basically he followed the water current around and spent random amounts of time at sea or on islands..

Finally he met the Phaeacians who were descendants of the atlanteans, and probably lived in spain, just outside of Gibraltar..they say they couldnt have lived there because it taked odysseus only 1 day to get home, but the Phaeacians were apparently given special boat technology by poseidon that allowed them to 2-3 times as fast and navigate to anywhere in the world..that is why they were such good seafarers in those times..if the tech is real, then it might be related to the stuff in the antikythera mechanism, which was made just after the end of the bronze age, so it is possible the Phaeacian technology was lost during the end fo the bronze age 1200 bc or so, right in the time of the Odyssey, which could be responsible for why he got lost in the first place..

Yeah 5000bc with indo-european farmers from central Europe and Asia

>little evidence for Basques

Well essentially that they don't derive from an earlier population than indo-europeans in the area. There's no evidence to suggest they existed before then and may have been displaced and migrated there around the same time or later.

This theory makes 0 sense.

The Odyssey is a mythological tale which probably is heavily influenced by the voyages of Mycenean sailors and merchants who ventured in the Western Mediterranean, since Mycenean objects and pottery are attested as far as Sardinia or maybe even Spain.

My guess is the Phaeacians could have been inspired by Sardinians as they were the most advanced culture in the Western Med at the time and lived on a remote island ruled by multiple kings/chief lords, plus they practiced boxing which is attested on Sardinia since the bronze age by the boxer statues and statuettes, there are some parallels to Alcynoo's palace and complex Nuraghi, but that's just a theory.

Though the etymology of Phaeacians is obscure to me.

random carlson and graham cracker hamcock BTFO:

>Recently new studies were published in the matter of the YDB impact hypothesis, criticizing the methodology and pointing to inconsistencies regarding the chronological data.[59][60][61] This new research, which analyzed sediments claimed, by the hypothesis proponents, to be deposits resulting from a bolide impact were, in fact, dated from much later or much earlier time periods than the proposed date of the cosmic impact. The researchers examined 29 sites that are commonly referenced to support the impact theory to determine if they can be geologically dated to around 13,000 years ago. Crucially, only three of the sites actually date from that time. According to the researchers, the Younger Dryas impact event evidence "fails the critical chronological test of an isochronous event at the Younger Dryas onset, which, coupled with the many published concerns about the extraterrestrial origin of the purported impact markers, renders the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis unsupported. There is no reason or compelling evidence to accept the claim that a cosmic impact occurred about 12,800 years ago and caused the Younger Dryas."[59] These same studies were addressed and replied by Kennett and his colleagues, still advocating the validity of the YDB impact hypothesis.[62]

According to the myth, human beings were initially unaware of the benefits of culture and civilization. The god Enki sent from Dilmun,[1] amphibious half-fish, half-human creatures, who emerged from the oceans to live with the early human beings and teach them the arts and other aspects of civilization such as writing, law, temple and city building and agriculture.[2] These creatures are known as the Apkallu.

Wall relief depicting an eagle-headed and winged man, Apkallu, from Nimrud.
The Apkallu remained with human beings after teaching them the ways of civilization, and served as advisors to the kings.[
