Different races have different average IQ's, genetically.

That means we literally can't do anything to solve societies inequalities. No amount of welfare, education, affirmative action, tolerance will change the fact the blacks have a 85 IQ average and commit massive amounts of violent crime.

This single-handedly changed my perspective on what government should be doing to address these problems in society, and forced myself to listen to different viewpoints that I would normally brush off as "retarded right-wing trash."

That is a prime example of how fucking arrogant and ignortant you math-nerds are. It has nothing to do with the social hierarchy and how to help it.

Tell me, why are there different colored people on earth? Why do we have Whites, asians, blacks, lations, arabs etc? Answer that question based on knowledge.

Isn't that more related to politics?

Why can't you tell me how to negotiate peace in Cuba via math equasion?

You're so narrow-minded.

Everything has its shades.

Tan x= sin x / cos x

u^2 = tan(x)

2u du = sec^2 x dx = (u^4 + 1)du

So sqrt(tan(x)) dx = Integral 2u^2/(u4 + 1) du

It gets a lot nastier from there.

>>77647205

The thing is, why should different races being more or less intelligent make you more right wing?

That would be like going up to a cripple and kicking him in the legs and mocking him for being crippled. I'm leftwing and I don't rule out blacks maybe being less intelligent. If they are, we should be compassionate and look at researching gene therapy to reverse the problem.

Intelligent people don't waste time learning how to jump through hoops like this. I did it for school because it was required. I also understand all the logic behind every step in the solution. But I haven't trained myself to be a trick-performing monkey in some time. The only reason you would try to have a highly intimate understanding of how to mechanically pump out integrals is if you're trying to be a new memester, discovering new integration techniques that are superior.

You won't do this. And I don't expect I ever will either. Thus, computers know most of what I understand and can act as a copy of myself, doing everything I would in a fraction of a second. If a computer doesn't know it, I have also trained myself to write scripts so that I can make a computer instantly pump out the answer I need as if it were me. I use the computer as if I were a cyborg and it was accelerating my mind. And that's what modern humans essentially are - we just interface with our robot parts using fingers instead of brain signals. And thousands of your competitors do the same thing. Fill your mind with useful information. Learn useful skills.

No you dummy. There is a 1/3 chance of your initial pick being correct. This means there is a 2/3rds chance of the car being in one of the other two doors. If the host reveals a goat behind the first door, you now have a separate smaller problem with 2 doors instead of 3. It doesn't matter which one you pick, you have 50/50 odds at that moment in time

I'm a math grad but I forgot most of the tricks used to find primitives of particular functions, except for the most common ones, doesn't mean shit, I can probably rederive those if I need but most people in the field who aren't dealing with babby's first calculus every day are just going to look up some tables when they need it, it's fairly pointless to brag about being able to remember simple tricks.

Look at it this way: Imagine there are 100 doors instead of 3. You pick one door, then the host opens all of the other choices, except for one door somewhere in the line. Suddenly that unopened door sticks out massively and it becomes clear why you should switch your choice to it.

But here again you are making the assumption that the prize is not behind the doors the host opens.
The only way the math works out is if you make that assumption. If the host deliberately opens doors that don't have the car behind them, you're right. If the host opens doors at random, then the odds even out
>>

Maybe, but even a math professor in, say, algebraic topology, is probably going to forget the trick himself due to not dealing with that shit often and will have to either spend some little time thinking about the right substitution, or simply look up a table. It can be pretty fun to rederive stuff that you probably once saw your professor derive for you but simply being able to solve the integral is not by itself impressive, any calc 101 student about to take an exam would've memorized the right substitution.

1.Obviously the poster thinks that solving this requires intelligence.
2.He makes a true statement which should invalidate 1. but just partially.
3.He puts in a sentence that is hard to interpret but obviously the poster is a gook or a gook lover because he puts a racist statement into something that most people with a certain type of intelligence would agree to therefore he wants to signal "gooks are intelligent". But he does it in a smug way and thinks people wont notice his extreme smugness.

So this poster is either a australian shitposting genius or a math nerd of asian decent or someone that has a need to defend gooks because they are good at maths (which indicates that he has a stem background or would be stem background).

For a polynomial (say f) to be always positive it must tend to infinity as the absolute value of its variable (say x) tends to plus infinity. Given this and the fact that polynomials are continuous, consider sets of the form S_a = {x | f(x) <= a}. These sets are closed by the continuity of f.

Suppose for the sake of contradiction that there were such a polynomial f that were surjective onto the positive numbers (and only the positive numbers) as you asked. Take a monotonic sequence of numbers that goes to zero from the positive side. For this sequence of numbers, there is a nested sequence of sets S_a as defined above. If f satisfies the hypothesis then all of these sets are nonempty, and since they are nested that implies there is a sequence of points x_n such that the limit f(x_n) goes to zero. Since these sets are closed, their intersections are closed, and so the limit of this sequence exists in the set. Call that limit X. since x_n --> X and f(x_n) --> 0, by continuity of f we see f(X) = 0. But this contradicts the hypothesis that such a polynomial could exist that is surjective onto the real number but never hits zero. -[]

>>
>>77658028
I m curious, but i heard that in highschool you seperate into different levels of "calculus".
How does that work in detail, how does that count into your highschool diploma and how does that work in university. Because you need a certain background of knowledge in university otherwise you are fucked. Can you elaborate a bit more on american education? In germany we have a different structure. To get into university you need a certain diploma, it isnt the same for every student. In the USA most people get their highschool diploma, which is in a way "basic education" (no offence meant here).

>Nice try senpai, but I was asking whether there was an example from *R^n* to R, not just n = 1. Your proof seems wrong even for n = 1 since you don't use any property of polynomials. Also the intersection of closed sets could be empty...

Actually I used the facts that polynomials are continuous and the fact that a polynomial that is always positive must go to infinity as the magnitude of its variable goes to infinity. I think you should read the proof again there is nothing that restricts what I said to the domain being one dimensional. The range is one dimensional because that's what you asked.

And I'm not assuming the intersection of the sets is nonempty, but rather I'm using the fact that since the sets form a nested sequence and each set in that sequence is non empty, you can form a sequence of points (one from each set) that will converge to a limit point in R^n.

Most high schools have different levels of calc. Advanced students usually take "BC calc" (to prepare for the AP calc test or math subject tests). Very advanced highschoolers sometimes take math courses for credit in university. But on the other hand, it is possible to graduate from high school without ever having done any calculus before. Once you get to university, there are often placement tests to either test out of the required calc or place into a higher course in your first year. On the other hand, some (joke) universities don't require any kind of math to graduate.
>>
>>77659367
