To my knowledge you need a Class 3 FFL but if you decline to renew it you need to dump any "automatic weapons" you have to another person with the license or destroy them.
I know you can buy taxed pre-FOPA guns that are full-auto because of the Constitutional bar on post-facto legislation, but the limited supply of qualifying guns means you can see shitty condition pre-FOPA's out there for 25k+.
So to my understanding you cannot "create" or buy an automatic weapon that is not a pre-FOPA.
Yet there are numerous places selling sears/lowers that include non-semi options.

Americans should be counting their lucky stars there is so many progun people and lobbies looking out for the second amendment.
In australia we have no such luck to have such a constitution and the vast majority of the voting public are brainwashed to be very very antigun.
As such I find myself constantly fighting an uphill battle for gun rights.
This is one of my favourite arguments.
A common anti-gunner point is this "nobody needs a gun" or "why do you need a gun". To which I respond "why do the police need guns?"
