Yep, Obama backed the anti-Mubarak protests in Egypt. He's an American ally who more or less kept the status quo. So he backed the protests against him, Islamists (Muslim Brotherhood) came to power, and then they were toppled by a military coup. Now Egypt is back to the status quo but cracking down hard on Islamism, all the way to probably eventually just straight up invading Palestine to crush Hamas. They are also resentful towards Obama. Not just that but the west supported Islamists against Qaddafi, and now Libya is a terrorist Hotspot. Egypt is now having to fix America's fuck up there. Then the west backing Islamists in syria.

Wahhabis are puritans. They don't want to meddle in politics. They just want to be hardcore followers. They're conservative, ritualistic and have almost a literalist approach towards Islam. Islamists on the other hand can range from being moderate Muslims to just being lazy ignorant type. They're not debating to being hardcore in following Islam. Most don't even know how to read. They think it's pointless to worry about politics.
Islamists on the other hand don't care much about practicing Islam as much as they care about having Islam in politics, even if they don't know Islam that well. Think of it as reactionary to western nationalism. Islamism views "success" by capturing land and trying to be as close to the west as possible. Yet it's funny because in return are being super nationalist about it.
