You're going to have to force free speech onto communication platforms. In the future the majority of communication will be on "private" digital property. Free speech isn't profitable so no company will support it without incentives. I don't see how it's different to phone services, no one would tolerate phone companies listening to phone calls and disabling peoples phones if they made negative statements about the carrier.
Despite largely replacing phone services for some reason social media companies are not treated as communication platforms. If the US does not make any rules the companies will just adopt whatever restrictions other countries demand.
