Here's my 2cents. Around these parts (the only part of the world I can speak for) negative opinion regarding US is widespread, however it's mostly focused on US administration and their general lack of respect for international law, ethics and their need to stick their dick just about anywhere.
1999 was 17 years ago, but people still feel the same. Most of the nation is still very much bitter and angry because NATO agression was illegal according to international law and NATO's own policy.
That being said, there is a distinct differentiation between American people and American administration. The general opinion is that people are people everywhere around the world, and there will always be good and bad ones. The consensus is that American populous is so overwhelmed with working, paying loans and trying to live a decent life that their lack of education about international politics and what their representatives are doing around the world becomes a lot more understandable, almost expected.
I've been over there, and that trip only confirmed what I thought before. A bunch of good and hospitable people with a pinch of dickheads and crazy fucks, all trying to live a decent life and make a future for their families.
