For growth to occur, systems have to break down because systems get ridgid. Like how urban areas became parasitical due to the 17th Amendment giving them political dominance and deindustrialization taking their ability to create wealth, societies try to resist change by ANY MEANS. 3) Iron is Iron and is essential. Its cheap but most has been mined and thus the supplies in our hands are the main sources.

This is why Monocots are the way to go. Buy up some Wheat(71 g carbs/100g), Rye, Barley, oats, etc that will grow in your area and leave the tomatos as a secondary crop. The grains are cheap, need little/no maintenance, and can grow almost anywhere. Hell, you can make beer and whisky and get drunk as fuck too.
