I don't understand modern wars. When looking at pre- modern wars, tens of thousands died fighting for single cities and many of those cities fell after short periods of time granted that one side had superior fighting power. But Iraq has almost 2 million soldiers with superior weapons yet they lost a third of their country to a mere 9000 ISIS. And they still haven't been able to recapture all of their land after years of fighting. How is this even possible?
